Not everyone is staying the night but quite a few are.

I suggest that we meet at the Travel Inn and then car share to the station?

Alternatively if you want to go straight to the station, meet at the SOUTH gatehouse

Any questions, give me a shout.

Autoroute gives it as 260 miles or so for me, with a running time of a little over 4 hours.

Great how these programmes forget about little things like 'rush hour', in particular the likes of the Forth Road Bridge and the Edinburgh City Bypass when they try to work things like this out....  Will need to leave around 0730 to take the Forth Bridge and similar heavy bottlenecks into contention with a margin for error, to get there for one-ish.....   :'(

I think we should have a prize for furthest travelled!

Working on a nasty little project at Drax at the mo which is taking far longer than as planned so I'm there Wed, Thurs(am) and Fri, not far for me to go then.

Still, will nearly be a proper visitor to Drax my self as I'm leaving Capula (where I currently work) and taking a staff job at Rugeley power station.  More money, 12 miles down the road but best of all, home every night :y  12 years of doing this and 20 weeks of the summer away at Tilbury power station last year, I've had enough

Rugeley, now theres a nice place..... ::)

Used to drive through there (as fast as humanly possible) to get to Stafford when I woked at Alstom T&D PESL....

Yes, not my first choice as a place to live, Stone is rather better.

However, there is a power station there and it is undergoing a large investment so when the power industry is your career and you want to be home every night...

Just the 8 or so speed cameras to negotiate along the 12 mile trip each way, twice a day.  Points, here I come

Does Rugeley still have its dry cooling tower?

I've heard about this.  I think it must have been dry as they were building the B station.  I assume they are all in operation now.

Have a good time peep's and a safe journey. Do n't get too electrified by the experience. ;D ;D

Bruce i can still let you have Sally nav to borrow, you would defiantly be in with a shout for furthest travelled, probably route you via Bristol. ;D ;D ;D

One of the towers had 'radiator' panels around its base rather than the usual water spray cascade. The inside was warm and dry but windy and was also used as a store.
There were large sliding doors around the base which could be moved to the windward side...presumably to help balance the cooling in winter.

Thanks Dave, but I have a tomtom already.  Didn't have it on Monday as Nikki needed it to go to BF home in Largs for weekend.   :y
