The cheepo supermarket Olive Oil is not expensive, but the good quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil I think myself, at about £5 a bottle (small), is! :'( :'(

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Well said Guy! The trouble is of those I know in these parts not one uses olive oil, and certainly never on fish 'n' chips!! :D :D :D :D ;) But it has nothing to do with "I'm not eating that foreign muck", as all of them eat Chinese, India, Japanese, etc., so that belief belongs to my grand parents time. It is more about them thinking why do I need to use olive oil and spend extra money Guy!! ::) ::) ::) ;)

also these are worth reading imo..

Hi Lizzie. I use olive oil but it's really only any good for dressings, home made mayo, hollandaise etc. Lighter varieties are ok for low heat frying but for Indian/chinuse you need a higher temp oil which is where the health side kicks in.
Despite the calorific content of extra virgin the med. diet of tomatoes/pasta etc is incredibly heathy! :y

Got to admit, but I'm now an olive oil 'convert'.
After an excrutiatingly-painful year, I'm now thankfully gallstone-free and gall bladder-less.
Ain't going back to that episode.
Still 'enjoying' the post-op care here though ....... ;) ;) ;)
