As the title says, I need some gardening advice, though NOT to grow anything to KILL things.
I have a bricked drive and it looks like it is carpeted in WEEDS, so I am goona try and crack on with getting rid this year, so any advice?
I was told that Sodium Chlorate was very good, but as they used it for making bombs it has been outlawed.
I tried Roundup and Weedol last year all to no avail.

Petrol does it. if you can afford it :)

There's nothing you can buy off-the-shelf now. The H&S brigade have had them all banned. The council here use a blue coloured liquid. It's very slow acting but seems to actually kill the weed and not just discolour it for a few days. Trouble is, no one will tell me where I can get it.

I read somewhere that a blowtorch is the tool, but I cannot seem to find one, also been told they were on sale last year in Lidl's and Aldi's but missed that one.
I thought about red diesel, but my pussy and the neighbours would have something to say about that. ;D ;D ;D

I agree Steve, just been to Makro, and they had the usual, Weedol, Roundup, but they just discolour them for a few days. I want if poss to get rid of them, I can see me having to pay to get my drive re-laid, and that is goona cost a small fortune.

AFAIAA, Sodium Chlorate is the base ingredient of most if not all weedkillers? :-?

Agreed, but the powers that be have removed the bad stuff, which means the good stuff for weedkiller so it is really harmless nowadays.

That might cost you a fortune in gas cartridges.
I used to use a 4 pronged burner from work with a propane bottle for clearing our pathes. Have had a look round the net but cant think of the right search words to find one. Best I found was this, check with your local tool hire service for a price deal as these will intensify the heat. The idea is that they burn the roots to kill them, which may be difficult on block paving.

I've used Pathclear for years. If you are careful not to use it just before rain, you can go really close to lawns and not harm them. If your drive drains off onto flower borders then you need to be extra careful but I would recommend it.
Naturally stuff grows back but not straight away by any means.
Moss needs to be treated differently. Scrape out as much as possible and I've used fungicide (for doing outside walls) on occasions, applied very carefully.

I`m contemplating using concrete all over the back garden and then painting it green to give the illusion of an immaculate lawn....But then again i have gone mad...... :D :D :D

I use Touchdown to kill the millions of weeds in our Olive groves. Great stuff especially when mixed with a small amount of Oxyflouren. Try that if you can get it in small enough quantities.

nothing grows in my x wifes garden, it used to be a nucleur waste dumping ground after the war. same as the estates 3 miles away was an asbestos dumping ground. always wondered why my eyes lit up at night ;D ;D ;D
