Don't worry, nobody's upset me, I'm not going off in a huff, and I certainly haven't the time to worry about any issues on the forum :)
I have basically been running myself ragged - with full time job, and helping members with car trouble at weekends, alongside trying to fit in voluntary work - and I can't keep burning the candle at both ends.
It seems everyone's Miggy needs attention at the moment, must be TBs curse. :D
There are some changes afoot in my career path which mean very soon, I will not be in a position to do what I do, so frequently.
Said changes also mean I will no longer be in a complacent office job, whereby I can usually get away with sending a cheeky personal email etc to members, or take calls to discuss Omega stuff - but doing something that will require more of my dedication and concentration, and sometimes require more physical activity, so I will have to make better use of any "resting time" I get, than what I do at the moment.
I also need more time to spend with the family - which to be fair, I have not spent as much time with as I should.
To this end, I am not saying I'll never sort out an Omega again, but what I am saying is that it will be much more infrequent.
I won't be a stranger, will still log in and post when I can, but will no longer be actively doing car repairs.
I know it's with the best of intentions, but I would ask if possible, that members do not recommend me to others anymore, for doing routine work.
Thanks for your understanding :y

No need to leave or whatever, just give up the weekend tinkering - problem solved.

I too am aware of James' change in career, and I wish you the best of luck...although I need not realy as I know it'll all be fine.
We all respect your decision James, and I'm sure you'll still be on here when you can.
I know from personal experience James is skilled, competent and quick when it comes to vehicle maintenance and work.
But above all that he is a thoroughly nice guy, who is a great mate.
He always puts himself out for others, and thinks nothing of it. James truly is one of those special few people, but I must say OOF does have a great community.
As most will know, my MV6 has decided to seize up potentially, and James as always has given me excellent advice. I've had numerous PM's from regular members who I talk to a fair bit, but also from members I don't know that well offering support and help.
James, you are a star...and you know where I am, you are always welcome to pop by anytime. Sometime you'll have to come down and I'll hide the Omega's...so you can just rest and we can have lunch in the pub.

About time we consider another Oxford meet then, Mr Wyatt. Pick a warmer day though ;D ;D ;D

The offer of having a look at your MV6 still stands Josh.... :y
Oxford meet sounds good too :D

That sounds like a very good plan to me, and that was certainly a cold day. But at least we can burn both my MV6 and your gold Elite and huddle around for warmth if it's another cold day :D
I think I'll start a thread in the meetings area then.

I'd very much like to take you up on that offer James :y
And if we can get an Oxford meet sorted, then we could tie in it so you don't have to travel here before.
How is the 406 now? Most issues resolved?
-
No worries Josh, I want to look at your MV6 this week :)
The 406? I have finally done one job on it:
- An oil and filter change - which took all of half hour.
Still need to do cambelt kit, water pump, aux belt, wishbones, rear wheel bearing, brake service all round.... ::)
-
172,000 miles, no cambelt history, and the oil change prior to mine, was over 20k ago..
Asking for trouble ;D
-
Thanks James, whatever time is best for you will be fine with me :y
;D what do they say about builders having houses that are falling down, and car mechanics with dodgy cars? When you do it for a living or part time you never want to do your own.
When I saw the 406, the N/S looked tidy ;D
Forget about the engine, you don't need one...just take it everywhere on the back of a truck ::)
-
That all sounds very sensible James and I am very pleased for you that your career is going in the right direction! 8-) 8-) :y :y :y :y :y
You have discovered what most of us do with age; you cannot burn the candle both ends as you do in your teens / early twenties, and also you have greater family responsibilities. You have made a wise decision if I may say so ;) ;) ;)
One day I will ask you down though to do the infamous, never happening change of a cam belt with me!!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)
All the very best James :-* :-* :-*
-
One day I will ask you down though to do the infamous, never happening change of a cam belt with me!!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)
Is it anywhere near Due? ;)

We were down to the last 8K miles on the CDX, but then it was written off! My latest Elite has another 20K or two years to go at least, but I may very well do it next year James come what may! ::) ::) :D :D ;)
-
Good luck James.. :y
-
James, best of luck for the future, and thanks for the work you've done on my car, and your advice on several matters :y
I have to say, I could never work out when you found time to sleep, as you always seem to be running about :)
Hope everything works out for you :y
-
Good luck mate .. don't be a stranger ... :y :y :y :y
-
A well earned one aswell,James.THe bit that surpises me is you work aswell, where have you found the time to do both :y
-
Thanks Gents..
Just to clarify - I won't be a stranger on the forum so much, it's the mobile mechanics I will be really cutting down... :y
-
Hope the career change works out James. You'll be around here enough but I'll certainly stop recommending you for routine stuff :y
