wait a sec....they're saying CO2 is beneficial to the growth of plants? it's as if it's a greenhouse gas?
do real scientists know this? ;D

i thought the point was increased co2 in the atmosphere leads to a rise in global temp causing drought in areas used to growing crops? so its a completely moot point - the cons far outweigh the pros :-?

This video was produced primarily in response to the US EPA's decision to class CO2 as a dangerous pollutant - which it isn't.
As it happens, droughts have not increased in frequency and the planet's temperature is not rising particularly fast as has been previously forecast by Gore and the IPCC - certainly no more than can be accounted for by natural variation (i.e. coming out of the Little Ice Age) and excluding Urban Heat Island effects. Indeed, evidence exists that it may be falling. Furthermore, some scientists believe that warming increases evaporation, which increases humidity which, in turn, increases rainfall.
There's neither logical argument nor evidence to support your assertion that "the cons far outweigh the pros". That's just a guess on your part, isn't it? :(

Some people conclude that CO2 does contribute to global warming, reality is that you can never conclude such a thing, you can only infer from the evidence you have.
Global warming (and cooling) happens.....thats a fact of the biosphere we live in.
Whether or not CO2 plays any part in that is very questionable as different evidence sudgests different things.
I personaly infer that CO2 does not have the impact that everybody is making out......

I did read a New Scientist article on the matter, not a guess....just knowledge passed on from experts - it'll never catch on tho ;)

...Correct BJ.....but you must remember it is only informed and intelligent people who have looked at all the available evidence in an objective manner......who think this way..... ::) ::) ::) ;)

Not knowledge, simply inferences from their observations.
I always come back to the god scenario.
You can only ever infer there is no god, in theory you can conclude there is a god,
E.g., if you die and do not encounter a God, does it prove there is not one or simply that you were not good enough to meet him.
On the other hand, you could conclude there is if you met him.
Same for global warming.....we know the globe warms and cools over millions of years as part of a biosphere cycle.....we have physical evidence of this.
What we have no evidence of is if Man's CO2 emissions are accelerating this or not hence we can only infer.

Engine oil is not considered a pollutant when it's in the sump but it is when it's in the radiator!
Dandelions and nettles are not weeds when they are being grown to make wine but they are in my lawn.

It's also odd that they allow liquid containing a dangerous pollutant to be purchased and consumed in pubs.
Some of it is only pretend beer called lager so they have to ship cylinders of pollutant to be added at the pub. ;D
We really are quite blasé about our handling of this dangerous pollutant. ;)
