check how fast he's going http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/videomediaplayer.html?vid=6487

thats a nice ban ;D ;D
-
haha fair play
i mean his useless attempt at denial, 'erm yeah the camera is wrong'
but looking again he doesnt seem like hes doing 150??
hes hardly on the anchors catching the cars in front up he only seems to back off a bit??
-
:o 150mph, yeah right !! Certainly not doing anywhere near that speed in this clip.
Look at his progress compared to the 'L' plated bike in the row of almost crawling traffic.
Anyone that thinks he is doing or even decelerating from 150mph in that clip is a fool.
Don't get me wrong, if he or any other driver/biker gets caught doing that kind of speed on a public road then they deserve what they get, but there is no way that guy is doing 150 mph...at that point.

Idiot? Come on most of us have done it, i know i have.
Let's not sit in judgement.

my private race track has seen 150 a few times too :y

If the bike was doing 150 then what were the rest of the vechicles doing.

:y Thank heavens someone is thinking for themselves and not following like sheep. :D

Agreed there's no way the biker could slow down for the traffic in front in that from 150 short distance and time
-
no way is that 150mph, he could not slow that quickly. Look how fast he stops leaning down and straightens up? just bull...
-
I think this will become a case of timing againt the white dotted lines based on how many spaces they can accurately count and time him over.
He admitted doing 89mph, which looking at the footage seems feasable.
Also on fast roads I think all speed teast should be done over timed marking as it has been proved many times that a wandering speed gun can prove to be inacurate.
Poor kid gets my vote.

unless he's good at maths and can do a calculation to prove the cameras wrong :-/
-
Can't see how they can honestly say they think he was doing anywhere near 150 mph, but with so much publicity, Plod will want this one to stick.
-
I can't see that being 150mph.. the cars on his side would seem to be in reverse gear... so I'm told ;D ;D ;D
-
Fortunately, the discrepancy in what 'seems' to be the speed (90 ish) and what was recorded (150mph) is vastly different. I can only hope the courts watch the footage with the correct open mind and not the usual "we can make some money from this one" mind.
Had the recorded speed been 102 or 107mph, I fear the rider would be in some smelly stuff right now.
-
No sympathy for him whatsoever.
Speed limit is no where near 90 mph .. so he was speeding. Guilty.
He was driving a bike for which he has no licence. Guilty.
I believe this means he probably had no insurance . Guilty
So, if he had hit someone, would everyone still be nice and sympathetic ??? He knew what he was doing and has to take the consequences.
The title of the thread is correct .... "idiot biker"

Well spotted. I didn't read the full article, only watched the video.
I still personally believe that 90 in good conditions on that stretch of road is not unsafe. Obviously illegal, but not unsafe.

OK .. not "everyone" showed sympathy .... :) but several have... "poor kid" ... "court likely to believe plod" .... and similar .. :)

Taken from the 'full story':
The former force sniper and firearms officer quickly spotted the speeding vehicle and pulled the trigger on his speed gun.
Looks like they can get it wrong with any kind of gun. ::)
Prosecutor David Gittins told the court Marriott was "racing into the distance", crouched low over the bike's petrol tank to maximise his speed when he was forced to brake.
;D ;D It's a ZX-6, a sports bike...not a Harley with 'Ape Hanger' bars. There is only one riding position...crouched low...over the tank.

It's the 150mph speed reading that is the issue here. He deserves everything he gets for the 'no licence' etc.

My appologies, Iwatched the footage, if he was riding illegally then the spedd allthough a big issue is irrelevent if you get my point and the shite shouldnt have been on the bike it the first place.
Throw the book at him and have him shot. :-X

Even if he was doing 90mph (which he claims) if he was legal(which he was`nt) he would only recieve approx 6 pts and a nice fine of around £200.......Before anybody has a go i`m speaking from experiance here i was caught doing 97.56mph on the M5 through gloucestershire by a traffic car and ended up getting 6pts and a £200 fine, still got the points on my licence today cause i`m too tight to pay to have em removed....Oh and since then i have totted up around 18 pts and still kept my licence cause of a savvy barrister ;)...I learned my lesson though ::)......
