Title: Outrageous LPG prices in South East
Post by: wingman on 17 April 2010, 14:31:03
Is anyone else like me getting incredibly p***ed off with the rip off prices of LPG down this way. We have recently been up to Leeds to visit our daughter and grandson and at Asda in Pudsey LPG was 56.9p per litre and even on the M1 (BP) it was just 66.9p per litre. Now at the nearest LPG  supply to me, a BP garage, its 72.9p per litre and at another BP garage about 15 miles away its 75.9p per litre. Now I cannot believe that even taking the price on the M1 and transport costs a price difference of 6p a litre (or 27.3p a gallon!!) is justified, or taking the Asda price a difference of 16p a litre (72.8p a gallon!!) simply because we are in the South. My nearest other supplier is a Somerfield store at Polegate (about 14 miles away) and their price is 63.9 per litre.
It seems to me that BP are royally ripping us off down here and I would love to know from other oofers down this way if they have the same experience and how we could do something to complain about this. The only thing that immediately comes to my mind is to write to BP and challenge their costs, but we would undoubtably be told to b-off. Any one got any other ideas of how or with who we/i could raise this?

I'm afraid someone can charge what they like for gas, petrol, confectionery, flowers, etc, etc., if they can get away with it :'( :'( :'(

Since the death of Retail Price Maintenance at the beginning of the 1970s, prices can be whatever the retailer wants them to be on most things, apart from postage stamps, lottery tickets, etc, or if the product is already stamped with a lower price than the retailer would dearly love to charge  ;) ;)

BP are not my first choice by any means on price.  They do, however, keep some stations open when all else are closed so I do occasionally use them.

I filled the bike this week (95oct) and it was over £20 for the first time ever; and I had 30miles left in the tank!  Unleaded generally £1.189 around here currently. >:(

I have just looked for sites retailing LPG around Ashford on the web and cannot find any doing so! :o :o

The BP national web site does state though that the AVERAGE price of LPG is 64.2 ;)

Just found this interesting page, found via searching the Sainsbury's web site, that makes it very clear why fuel is the price it is, if you did not know already why!! ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

77p for LPG at my local BP . wonder who the boss of BP is .. dick Turpin i bet .
local independent garage is only charging 59.9 but thats jumped up from 53.9 two weeks ago .

the cost of converting a normal car over now is just not worth it unless you travel mega miles now to recoup the cost .

my jag cost 1800 to convert over but its worth it as i do feel smug on the motorway lol  :D
