Title: Stainless Steel Replacement Exhausts?
Post by: Mikes1670 on 18 April 2010, 14:39:18
Hi all, has anyone had a stainless steel replacement exhaust fitted?  If so, what did you think to it and where did you source it?

I know Kwik-Fit do a three year guarantee on their mild steel exhausts but when I last asked they told me they didn't do stainless steel systems anymore. I will also add the last exhaust I had fitted was a Kwik-Fit exhaust (not on an Omega) and the back box was replaced during the guarantee period then about a month after the guarantee had run out the baffle detached itself inside the middle box!

I am also led to believe it is the flexible joints that are the weakest link on most exhaust systems.

You're alright with this car then .... it doesn't have flexible section(s)  :y  :y  :y
I've a Jetex on mine, been there about 4 or 5 yrs & is fine. The twin exit is a bit big for my liking, but there you go.

Me too.... very pleased with it. Showed me all the way through the fitting process too, and was cheaper than Kwik Fit and National mild steel offerings  :y

You can choose what tailpipe you want and there was a match for my old tailpipe but preferred the look of the one I got

Yes, they matched mine, but a bit shinier.
Cost was £311 all in - would have been an extra £40 for a more customised tail.

I got a quote last week for £389 all in.  I'm waiting until it really needs doing in the hope that they do special offers from time to time, which is how Rockhampton got his for £311.

However 4 pots would be cheaper than a V6...

Wait a week or two and they will be in touch... my original quote was £389 too, then they dropped it to £349, and finally £311 if I had it fitted within 7 days. Kwik-fit wanted £390 for mild steel, national over £400, and my local garage £320.
Did originally plan to go for an Eternal, but as I plan on keeping the car for a while, the stainless option seemed the best. The warranty is transferable between owners too, however I believe that there is a small transfer charge.
Used the Longlife franchise in Caerphilly - they were very friendly and knowledgable - they had done several Omegas before  :y

Hi,

Was the £389 for a full system? My back box is on its way out so thinking of a new full system, not a bad price if thats for the lot 8-)

Cheers,
Iain

Everything behind the cats, i.e. central and rear sections. :y
