Title: BP are pirates of the motorway!
Post by: bob.dent on 20 April 2010, 13:01:14
Having spent a long weekend in North Devon, when I filled up at Sainsbury's before I left I paid 118.9 per litre. Driving back yesterday on the M5 I pulled into  Services with a BP filling station and they were charging 128.9 per litre!! :o Now I know fuel prices are high at the moment but that's just piracy. >:(
Needless to say I drove straight out without filling up and I pulled in at the next services and Shell were charging 124.9 per litre which is still expensive but not such blatant highway robbery as BP.
BP won't be getting any business from me in future.

Exactly. I bet fuel prices would get a bit lower if they could only claim the national average price for fuel. make 'em shop around a bit. ;D

Not so sure that's entirely true these days as more and more company car drivers are opting for mileage payments instead of company paid fuel in order to lower their Benefits In Kind tax which has become quite crippling in recent years. However, not the case with company van drivers as there were plenty of those flashing past me on the motorway at around 90mph!! :-?

I think most normal people wouldn't even consider using a motorway service area for either fuel or the restaurant services.

Haven't stopped at them for years, they are nothing short of legalized robbers.....

Theres a BP garage directly opposite my road, i refuse to fill up in there, because theyre charging 122.9 per litre, whereas round the corner the Shell garage are charging 118.9. im surprised theyre still in business tbh, the forecourt is always empty

50p per litre for pump white in the Shot  ;)

That aside though, if people want to see the duty drop on fuel then it needs cohesion. Unfortunately, that particular skill was pretty much wiped out by Nu Labia a long time ago.

I must admit, I only use them out of necessity. If I have the time to spare I normally leave the motorway and find a nice little pub or cafe and local filling station. :)
