The FM radio antenna is built into the heated rear screen. I presume that is a mobile phone antenna.

There is an extra antenna connection behind the driver's kick panel which seems to be routed in that direction.

It's the phone aerial, aerials on the later models had a bigger base that housed the sat nav antenna and the traffic master antenna is usually tucked behind the dashboard (On the vectra it's just two wires taped to the glovebox).

Yes, is mobile phone.  SatNav lives on dash (early ones) or at base of mobile phone ariels (later). TM is all around the unit.

I have one of these on my mini facelift elite, if the opinion is that its a phone antenna i will have to try and find where the lead terminates, maybe i can fit a car kit and use the antenna?

anyone any ideas where it will be on my mini facelift?

Indeed, mobile phone aerial, but only 900Hz NOT 1800Hz,  i.e. good for O2 and Vodafone but NOT Orange or T-Mobile/Virgin.

There is also a loom that terminates somehere in the central console area.

If you remove the sound deadening kick panel in the passenger footwell and have a rake around with a good torch you should find it.  Black coax type lead with a silver metal quarter turn connector (at least, thats what I found on my 98 minilift)

Exactly as Hotel21 says...

You need to extend to your kit.  Though most modern kits do not use an external antenna anyway, using the one in the handset instead...

Not sure about prefacelifts but would assume the same.
