Last time i used the van i had hook up so the unused battery was full of charge. However when i parked it up again i forgot to turn the zig unit off so it's flat as a pancake!
I'm away to a classic car meet this weekend & will have hook up. Will this recharge the battery? Do i have to flick a switch on the zig to charge or should i remove the battery & trickle overnight before i go? I have since turned the Zig off & the battery held loads of charge beforehand. This is my first van & i enjoy it but still learning. Guy. :)

Not sure if yours has a charger built in Guy :-/ :-/
Best bet would be to trickle charge it beforehand anyway, just in case :y :y

Does that mean it can only go to a Mercedes dealer to be charged?! ;D

My power supply unit for my caravan isn't a Zig, but it is also a charger for the leisure battery. I always assumed that Zig units were the same.
http://www.zig-electronics.co.uk/products.htm certainly suggests that some if not all Zigs are also chargers. Can't you plug your caravan in at home & check that your battery is charging? (you'll need a round 16A to domestic 13A adapter

Is that Mercedes battery a leisure battery then?
The Zig unit usually charges the battery when you are on hook up. So even if the battery is flat you should still be able to use 12v items via the battery, and recharge as well.
No harm in recharging at home though :y

theres quite a few different zig units out there and some had an orange switch to power charger some had a led that was red for low or flat and green to show batt in good health,as the charger was built into some of them you need 240v to your caravan and check batt leads with a multimeter and to do right you want between 13-14 volts otherwise take one lead off the battery and see if your lights still work that would tell you if you have a charger,if its totally flat it wants a good boost and ive dealt with a few that wont come back to life..and people think caravan chargers are automatic which is how theyre described but they arent so leaving it plugged in all the time is no good,personally i charge mine for 1 day once a month to keep it topped up :y

I'm pretty..... Ok i'm pretty sure it charges automatically when hooked up to 240 volt or the genny. I'll leave it in uncharged as i've got hook up anyway, switch everything on (12 volt & 240 volt interior lighting) & see how the power gauge reads.
TB will be on the edge of his seat biting his nails in anticipation!!! 8-)

most vans now the charger is wired to the mcb so when hooked up its on straight away older types had a charger which you could manually switch or a designated switch on the control panel

nice vans them,big and light.of all the vans i see its hard to remember them all its just another van on my bay but the lunars back then that ive seen was a bit 50/50 some had a few damp probs and some were bone dry if you have a dry one you have a nice van :y

Yes, end washroom, it's great with just 2 of us in it. :y
No damp problems, I had a slight problem last year with the offside awning rail becoming slightly detached at the back end on the end panel. Sorted now though.

It's not is it. :( It was the start of my rad leak problem, we came back from Devon with the aid of a can of radweld. ::)
