And yes if you read the info that is £2 million .. :)
What is surprising is that although ALL aircraft , Engines , parts , tooling & blueprints were ordered to be destroyed so that the cutting edge technology couldn't find it's way into " enemy " hands ,two planes this engine and whatever else managed to be salted away .
Another thorough Labour government eh ? ;D

We need a whip round! ::) ::) :D :D ;)
No, seriously this is a great piece of history and a reminder of how a Labour Government, under Harold Wilson decided to save £300 million by cancelling the project and buy American F-111's instead! >:( >:( >:(
So, for all you that blame Maggie Thatcher for destroying the British industry during the 1980s, it was actually the 1965 Labour Government that destroyed 'the Best of British', and started the mass erosion of the UK's productive capacity!
The late 1960s and the 1970s saw British industry become uncompetitive, inefficient, union ruled and strike bound, producing many flawed products that the world did not want at the prices demanded. >:( >:( >:(
The TRS-2 project fiasco was just the start, with only my only Labour hero, Tony Benn, doing good for British industry by saving Concorde! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Well I reckon you could strengthen the roof and main chassis areas and bolt it on top, with the ex-engine compartment being used to contain one of the kerosene fuel tanks :D :D ;)
An Omega doing mach 2 down the M4; now that would be fun to do!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

As far as I am concerned that government were a bunch of traitors and should be strung up.
A friend of my dads worked on them and one day a load of British communist traitors came in and stole the tooling to destroy it.
That engine MUST go to Cosford for XR220.

BTW TSR2 traitoring will prevent me EVER voting Labour for my entire life.

Indeed Martin, further to my previous 'political point' post in this thread, I agree totally, and this was just one Labour 'episode' that I grew up with that persuaded me NEVER again to vote Labour as I had first done with my parents being socialists! >:( >:( >:( >:(

I agree martin it should go to cosford and be exhibited alongside the aircraft it was meant for.... :y

No no no
It should be fitted to XR220
I want to see it fly and bomb Healeys house

That was a great ebay spot!
Lord Louis Mountbatten did a lot of damage to the TSR2 Project as he was chasing the limited funds for Navy planes and did a lot of briefing against TSR2. The Americans were the real villains in the piece, it was our countrys dire need for an IMF loan that allowed the Americans to blackmail us into dropping the TSR2 in favour of their Phantoms / F111, e.g. no loan if we don't.
Re 'Concorde', as brilliant as it was, and I had the lucky opportunity to fly in it, we would have made much more money selling TSR2s globally than we ever could selling Concord (which was also scuppered by the Americans through noise abatement excuses)

My dad has seen XR219 fly
My main surprise at Cosford was the lack of worshiping facilities ;D ;D

Which they ended up cancelling anyway.
