Title: I spent all day last thursday....

Fixing/Servicing my VectraB  >:(

VectraB driver brought it back for a service....even tho i had been asking for a while....it must need a service...bring it in!

Trouble with renting cars....peeps you rent them to...dont care about them  :(

Ok...so it came in....15k since last service  >:( squealing from brakes....was the report from the driver.

I check them carefully when they come in for a service....

I looked at the brakes to start with.....front pads fine...only about 1/4 worn.....rear pads  :(
Down to the metal  :( .....so off to vx dealer and get new rear pads and change em myself  :)

Carnt believe ive been paying my local garage to change em before.....they are soooo easy to change  :y

Next notice the headlights and sidelights dont work.....turns out all the bulbs have blown...replace em....but is a bit worrying as driver is a night driver  :o

Then notice rear fogs are on all the time....rear foglight switch does nowt!.....discover an orange indicator bulb in one of the fog light sockets....shorting the 2 pins out....reason why the fog lights are on all the time...so replace with correct bulb  :y

Then change the plugs.....didnt do the air filter as it looked pretty clean to me.

Then off to local garage to change the oil....as i dont like doing it myself.

Got em to check the handbrake as you had to pull it up nearly vertical to take effect....plus it only held on one back wheel.....they showed me how to adjust it.....screwdriver thro the hubs...and 3 clicks its now on ok..next time i know  :y

So all done and back on the road again  :y

Its only done 195k miles  ;D

Told the driver pain or death i want it back at 200k for a cambelt/tensioner change  :y

not a lot of work considering its done 195k!

You sound like a pro TD.  Well done  :y

Although I'm suprised you expected the lights to work - he's a Taxi Driver in a rented car  ;D

And the handbrake adjustment method is wrong.......its the same setup as an Omega....

how on earth was he never stopped  :o
