Title: Bad day at work (NWS)
Post by: Debs. on 14 May 2010, 09:34:25
Apologies:
I`ve removed the link, as having thought about it, I felt that showing the images was in poor taste; given that a person died.

A look at the first picture and the mess behind the engine was enough. Poor bloke but I don't suppose he knew much about it. Must have been bad for the passengers as well :(

The link in my original post has been removed by myself.

*Reason: Self censorship on grounds of taste/decency.

On apron at El Paso, Airport, Texas:
737-500 went 'tech'......A&P engineer attended.....starboard CFM56 turbofan engine ground-run to (well) above idle.....engineer (working under cowl at side of nacelle) moves fwd. of the  safe-zone....."total-ingestion".....resulting in considerable mess.....followed by much paperwork. ::)

....and then there wasn't.... :(

The article said it had happened before. I'm not surprised, those engines certainly suck in the air in a BIG way. There was a link on the same page to a video/photo of a luggage trolley that had been sucked in to an engine. :o
