I've finally got round to booking the wife's ZT in for a cambelt next week. The quote was "somewhere in the region of £900"

P.S. Know where there is a Grey BMW, the one that sounds like a jet engine. ;D ;D

tbh thats the top end of the "just about right price" anymore and i'd be looking elsewhere....take it you have gone main dealer?

it really is a barsteward change.... :-/

Yep. It is a barsteward, its three belts. No, not main dealer, I think we all know about main dealers ;)

It's a local independent that I've used for years and actually trust. They're not cheap but I've had my fill of CHEAP garages. By the the time you've sorted out their break ups, it usually works out very dear  >:(

Its 2 belts on the KV6....  ....and access is very tight.

Apparently on the KV6 it's officially an 8-hour job....

...and the spark plugs replacement on my Previa is an engine-out job  :(

...and the engine can only be removed from underneath the car, so no way this is a DIY job   :'(

Luckily they are good for 63,000 miles  :)

I could buy a nice Elite for that... to include a new timing belt kit which I could fit in an hour ;D

Seriously, apreciate the complexity of this job, and that your lady loves the car...

But In my opinion, maintenance bills like that mean the car's not economical to keep ;D

I ALWAYS pay the vat  :y Just the owner of local garage seems to give me 17.5% discount for paying cash.....dunno why?  ::) He doesnt give me a receipt either..... ;D But i always get a nice cup of coffee....does that count  :D

Oh I used to love builders merchants like that when I had my small business. It made quite a difference to the price I was able to quote ::)
