Anybody here into Microsoft Flight Sim ???? Interested to make contact if so. I do online flying with a couple of orgs, and was once Sqn Ldr (OC) No 41 Sqn Jaguars, at RAF Virtual.
Also got 600 odd hours with IVAO
Did run a virtual airline..... Explore Virtual once, and although the website is still open, have not had time to resurrect it yet.

Yes, I have FS2004 and FSX. I'm not really a good pilot and I prefer civil to military (not that I've tried much of that). I prefer 2004, simply because there are more add-ons available, although the graphics on FSX are very good. I do enjoy doing short airline flights using the ATC, and with a lot of AI traffic it can be fun. But like I said, I'm not that good. :(
OK, I did fly a 757 from Amsterdam last week and managed perfectly all the way to Stansted only to put it down in a potato field about 100 metres short of Runway 05!!
My new 24" monitor really has added to the experience, but really I don't have much time to fly as children and work seem to take up most of my day!
:y :y

Its a good hobby, Nickbat. We all have to start somewhere.
Don't worry about potato fields ;D I was flying online to Jersey using IVAO ATC, and after landing the controller asked me where I was and I had to tell him I was in the field at the end of the runway. ;D
The small group I am involved with now use FSX.....the toys you can use are superb. Currently we are doing carrier landing using the T45C Goshawk. When I can suss out how to upload, I will put a couple of piccy's up. I assume its via Photobucket or similar.

Look forward to seeing them, terbert!
Yep, Photobucket works fine on here!:y

I used to do a fair amount of simming with fs2004 but don't really have alot of time now due to work commitments..
I used to use alot of uk2000 scenery for the quality and I used to do a few repaints of the aircraft around the southwest and flew mainly helicopters but a few planes..
I may see you about at somepoint when I get time :y

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century Of Flight £9.39
Microsoft Flight Simulator X £17.95
Are these the ones mentioned, kust looked them up at play.com think I have seen them cheaper (new) and a lot cheaper (used)
Had flight sin 98 I think it was, but PC's were not really up to the job then. Fancy going for it again. Plus I believe you can use flight sim in google earth.

You will need a 'humphy' machine for FSX....but once you get used to it, it is way better in effects than FS2004. If you go for FSX, check whether it contains the Acceleration pack. This is an extra expense otherwise.
FS2004 is very popular, and once FSX was sneered at even by me, but honestly when you get to grips with FSX there is no going back.
As an example of what can be done in FSX....we are carrier landing with arrestor wires, Catapault launching, Hoisting people out of the water with helicopters (if you can find them)..lol ;D Virtual cockpits are stunning now.
Some of the aircraft are so detailed now with total cold starts, you need to do every thing. I have the PMDG Jetstream, and all I have done so far is blow up ten engines and am still sat in the Hangar. ;D ;D
Some piccy's

what would you say is the best to start with? i love a load of online stuff....Forza, COD, WoW but flight sims I've never really played and I fancy a change - you can only shoot so many americans in the face before it gets old :y

Yes, look like just the add on.

You would need the De Luxe version to have Acceleartion Pack.
Acceleration is an add on.
