Title: Motorbike help
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 20 May 2010, 01:28:37
Dunno where to post this thread, thought about general car chat, but it's not a car..... ::)  (Admin, please move if required)

Need a set of conrods for a yamaha YZF 750R 1994 (M) reg

Little  ends are damaged, any idea where to pick a cheap set up from.

TIA.   :y

Either ask on a YZF forum, or it's a main stealer jobbie...and if you think VX main stealers are bad, wait 'til you've priced Genuine bike parts !!

You could try Fowler's of Bristol, but I doubt they'll be much cheaper than a main stealer.

Surely it would be cheaper to get a new set specially made or your old ones reconditioned by a small precision engineering firm...

Twigworth Motorcycle breakers, Twigworth, nr Gloucester.
Excellant for motorcycle bits and engines, about 15 miles from me. They have a website, and very helpful too.

If they have what you want, will pick it up for you in the estate and meet you somewhere?

Mike.

Even better, I pass Twiggies AND Mike's on the way to south wales, so I could take it thus far....

Folks tend not to notice, until they're heading for a roundabout at speed. ;D ;D

I grew up about 1/4 mile from them.

Bought a few axles off them over the years

Couldn't you simply have the little end's machined down a little, and have some gugion pins made up to suite ?. Good engineering company should be able to do this.

Any chance you can take a photo of the conrods and post it up, so we can see just how bad the damage is ?.

I'll try to find out if there was another model which used the same conrods, maybe worth expanding the search for replacements.

Haven't found out any replacement engines that may have the same conrods at the moment, but found some links that maybe helpful as start for you at the moment ?.
