With the drivers door open, no keys in the ignition and the headlight turned on....where does the warning chime come from....
Its possible there are two places dependent on year of manufacture......so a quick poll to see....

Do I need to vote? ;D ::)

Just been out and treble checked, both my MY98 cars are the same. So double my vote ;)

No keys in ign when I tested mine. Very strange. It sounds to be coming from same place as the 'keys in' warning...

Both the steady buzz of the 'keys in' and the dee dah of the 'lights on' come from the same area of my car. I've never actually looked exactly where the 'keys in' alarm come from though.

Glovebox & it's a different chime to the '95 I had.....

What model year is yours (Is the last letter of VIN a W or and X)? I'm guessing 99 (X in VIN) due to ccrt700
-
Yep, it's X....
-
Headlight switch is slipping into the lead.......
-
Both mine 95 & 96, behind headlamp switch, so double my vote to ;)
-
Headlight switch.
-
I thought that it was the voice of God it's so loud. :(
-
Just a thought, is this anything to do with HID's?
-

Good point, both mine have HIDs...
Really don't recall where the noise came from on the 96 CD I had last year.
-
Just a thought, is this anything to do with HID's?
No, my CDx has HID's.......
I can only guss that its an age variance..........
-
Switch for my 99 Elite with HIDs
-
Ive gone for headlight switch coz it makes a noise about the steering wheel area.....so as headlight switch is closest in your options......
-
Headlamp side on my facelift :-?

Well that f***s that idea up cos mine Elite is a 99 with HIDs and the dee-dah is by the glove box! :-/
-
99 mini F/L and a 2000 F/L both with HIDs both from round the glove box.
Can you double my vote please as i can only vote once :)
-
I notice that 'other' has one vote! :-? So where is the warning buzzer then in that car?
-
Checked mine last night - coming from the glovebox. Mine is a '98 minifacelift.
-
Its weird.....I have 3 sets of wiring diagrams from different years......they all show the headlight switch as the warning buzzer......its a good job it is on the facelift as I have removed the keys in buzzer coz it was annoying!

I find it annoying too. Where is the buzzer and is it easy to remove?
-

Dead easy....its behind the glove box, you can get to it by lying in the passenger foot well, removing the cover on the bottom of the dash and reaching up.....just remove it from its base.....its white with a few slots in the top....

Errr? :-? Read all the posts above!!! That's the whole point of the poll. All our cars are exactly the same but different!
Mine's a 99 mini face lift with HIDs and my 'keys in ' buxzzer along with the 'lights on' are both by the glove box.

Andy B, is yours a 99MY (X last letter in VIN)?

Not sure when you say the LAST letter. The whole VIN is WOLOVBP69X 111111.

I did think as I typed! :-[

98 mini facelift - the lights on dee daa nag noise is at the lightswitch, but no nag for the keys left in the ignition after the beasts been running.... :-/
-
what chime never had one and as I had no idear where it came from left it :-/
-
Well, my head was in the driver's footwell today and I remembered this poll. Mine comes from a little white relay-like object with a louvred cover in the relay panel under the fusebox cover. So driver's side but not the switch.
I wish I'd had the presence of mind to pull it out while I was working on the stereo instead of letting it slowly drive me insane. (Had to have gearbox out of "P" for access, had to have driver's door open, wouldn't let me remove keys!)

-
TIS shows it in the relay panel next to fusebox for 98 cars. And in the headlight switch :-/. It does not show it near glovebox, which is where mine appears to come from.
-
2000 facelift, lights on dee daa glovebox, keys in light switch. :y
-
My lights on buzzer is in the drivers footwell...possibly fusebox, though, it's a corsa :-?
Keys in buzzer!? no chance! ;D haha

So do i......but i get round it by taking the ign key out and bunging it back in again.....shuts the noise up....but i do have to press the volume button on the stereo to turn the radio back on again .

I believe the buzzer is just a plug in module...

No keys in warning or lights on warning on mine >:(
Is it broken?

Glovebox on 98 MV6
Auto, HID
-
2nd vote, if I could for glovebox
2.2 2000 CDX is the same
Auto and HID again
-
M_DTM checked my MV6 yesterday, I don't think he believed it came from glovebox area ;)
-
Both glovebox (for now, but I can image the peace with one removed ...)
But not enough to bring the glovebox into the lead :(

next time pop the gearbox selector lever cover up (hooks in at end nearest ashtray, clips in at handbrake end - note that on the facelift it's the entire black plastic bit as opposed to just the gaiter on pre and mini facelifts), you can then push down the yellow tab on the left of the selector and move it out of park :y

Ahh, yes. That would have done it too. Thanks for the tip.
