Meldrew that is....
I miffed off with the council keep killing the grass down the side of my property.
About 18 months ago I re-seeded the grass verge about 18" strip all the way down the side of the fence and house, it looked a mess. The came and killed it again with weed killer.
Did it again towards the end of last year as I had had new fences put up and they left the verge a little rough.
Now I was only admiring how well the grass was growing last week and actually cut it with an old mower I keep specially for the that job.
The bloody council came again on Monday and kiiled the grass again with weed killer. It' going all brown and horrible again.
Got on to the council again, got a jobs worth and he said we don't strim anymore we kill.
Apparantly it's a health & safety issue now if they use strimmers, vibration injury. :-? :-? :-?
I said to him leave mine I'll cut the grass myself, he said what if you move the new owner will complain it's not been done. I said I ain't going anywhere I been here 34 yrs and you've been strimming all that time, up until recently.
As I type this would you believe they are cutting killing the grass again.
Rant over, sorry

I took the car for a spin round the village yesterday (Still had the battery charger leads (CTek) connected and the bonnet partially open :-[ :-[ :-/
But I saw the councel out with a strimming team and drive on grass cutters.
Sounds like your coucel are using the wrong strimmers. ::)

Do a Michael Douglas like in the film "Falling Down"......that should get the attention of the council.... ::) ::) :D ;)
-
Next time they come round tell them that "you don't do phoning them up any more, you do setting my big dog on them".

Find a "lawn treatment" that reacts with the council's herbicide and produces a cloud of poison gas. See what health and safety say then. :)

I must say it does annoy me that they use weed killer so profusely. Practice here is to spray weedkiller on the edge of the grass adjoining my front wall then use the sit-on mower to cut the rest (2foot or so). The weed killer kills the grass and gives the dandelions a hey-day because they grow in the void long before they do a respray.
The next thing is when they send the mowers on bin day, or someone parks on the pavement and they can't get the machine to the grass - dandelion heaven!
I DO believe it! >:( >:( >:(
-
Strimmers aren't the only way of cutting the edges. What about shears - the lazy gits.
I would have thought our council tax would cover them using a pair of scissors. Oh, but then they wouldn't be able to afford all the H&S pen-pushers. ::)

"I really don't believe it now"
After killing the grass last time along the edge, they came along this morning to strim it.
There's nothing left there to strim! but he still did it.
What happened to the health and safety issue, or did they listen to me :y

:( :( :( :(This nation has been destroyed by petty bureaucrats - mindless individuals given authority far beyond their ability - the spineless, gutless and the woefully incapable who now seem the have call over most aspects of everyday life.
The following, in the figurative sense is, perhaps, a sad reflection of who we were, who we should be and who we may never be again.
This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,--
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
Richard II Act 2 Shakespeare

Had the mower out last week and thought I ought to tidy up the verge in front of the house. Looks like they've been around that with Pathclear. 3 in ch border of dead grass round it. >:(
That's the last time I'll bother.

Richard II Act 2 Shakespeare
The Bard is ahead of you: John of Gaunt's speech ends:
This land of such dear souls, this dear dear land,
Dear for her reputation through the world,
Is now leased out, I die pronouncing it,
Like to a tenement or pelting farm:
England, bound in with the triumphant sea
Whose rocky shore beats back the envious siege
Of watery Neptune, is now bound in with shame,
With inky blots and rotten parchment bonds:
That England, that was wont to conquer others,
Hath made a shameful conquest of itself.
Ah, would the scandal vanish with my life,
How happy then were my ensuing death!
The reference to "rotten parchment bonds" is particularly appropriate to today's political climate. :) :) :)

I'm not ashamed to say I had a wee weep when reading those words - what a bloody shambles we're left with :( :(
Hath made a shameful conquest of itself
.......also very apt :( :(

If your a tenant ask for a rent rebate, cos they keep killing your grass, as for strimmers and vibration, I saw a couple of Council greenteam staff using the petrol ones today ::), so they're obviously not a vibration issue here in London ::)
