Tampering with the post is a criminal offence AFAIK... Make sure you have the facts right before you do anything... If no joy, get the police involved! It also carries quite a strong penalty IIRCC as it's still classed as tampering with a Royal something or other :o

Descriptive today aren't I? :-[ :-[

Are the tickets traceable Richie?  Have they a serial number?

If so speak to Goodwood and perhaps they can put a stop on them, or at least monitor if somebody tries to use them.

Let the police know as well. ;) ;)

i'd phone Goodwood - sounds like an admin error on their part, if the postie was stealing tickets why would he leave you one instead of pocketing them all and binning the envelope? ::)

Had post every day this week, at least 2 letters a day, at least 4 items this week have been sellotaped back up.

Whilst not wanting to tar them all with the same brush (for a change) I think the increasing use of agency staff has something to do with things like this.....

About three weeks ago, my mum posted my niece a card with a fiver in it. When it arrived, it had obviously been tampered with. No £5, but a cheque for £400 for a company in Chester. :o ;D

In my experience, posties dump the mail if they steal something, unless its recorded etc, in which case they still deliver....

tom signed for the letter what was with others, as soon as i see it i could see it was opened, a white self seal type. the tickets have a serial number on, and from what tom said he is not my normal postman, he was a man, mine is usually a woman. ive wrote to dave skerrit who has organised everything and waiting for his reply.

It would be a very stupid postman to thieve out of the mail, then get you to sign for said item.
I would think it may have been missing before he got it. Letters are sometimes open before they arrive at the sorting office, not sealed correctly. That's not to say that another postman hasn't sort of been there though, it happens and very sad when it does, gives the good one's a bad name :-[

Whenever i post anything i seal the flap properly with sellotape,so they cant open it and reseal it after. ;)

On the other hand, by sellotaping it closed are you not signalling to the postman that there may be something worth nicking inside.......??

I am a postman, and i never ever send anything valuable through the mail because when it goes missing its almost impossible to find the culprit unless its a serial offender who's pattern becomes visible over a period of time via people with good eyes, or public complaints building up

i've only been there a couple of years, so i'm not sure exactly how many pairs of hands an individual item touches before your postperson delivers it, but i too have had to deliver mail that looks suspiciously damaged and i cringe when people open the door incase the finger automatically gets pointed my way,
All the innocent postman has the power to do is give the customer the contact number for where to complain :(

So am I :y.......But I work indoors, have done for the last 20yrs sorting the mail, 24yrs service overall.  Gladly on our shift they're an honest bunch, but dishonesty has happened in other areas, they get caught eventually >:(

In defence of postmen.....
MY postlady carried my towbar from the sorting office to my house as she lives four doors down, and thought I might need it urgently (thanks MutantCav).
She's only 5ft and about 45......

What a star!!!

We get very good service... Any parcels/signed for stuff used to get left/delivered anyway with a note saying "I hope you don't mind, I signed for you!" which was superb as the sorting office is about 7 miles away :y

Now it's been arranged to deliver to the local shop and they keep a book which we have to sign when collecting :y
