... is NOT broken, as thought, thank goodness. Still exteremely sore, and movement in the thumb is limited ...
Thankfully the whack mostly went into the bit of skin between the hand and thumb...
I'm likely attempting a cambelt on a v6 on Sunday... that should be the acid test ;D
Lesson - if beating something with a hammer.. keep body parts outta the way!!!

Sorry to hear, but still be thankful. I knew a guy who smashed his thumb working on a car. The doc asked him what angle he wanted the last joint set at, because when it healed it didn't bend any more.

Yeah.. I'm an extreme novice... never done a V6 belt before. No idea how to use the timing kit, or how to set the tension. Guess I'll just go by the marks on the rear cover. Don't worry about changing the tensioner, it's good for 120,000 miles.
So what time am I coming over? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Actually - when I come to my cams and need to retime the belt, what type of tension do i need to re-apply?

It's all in the book of lies mate. :y

I really wish I hadn't left that book at Tunnies house... ::)

I've got one. :)
If the belt's used you have to align the tensioner marks differently. I guess this allows for a new belt to "give" a little bit.

Nice :D
I've ordered my ring spanner and E20 1/2" drive Kevin - couldn't get hold of any assembly grease so easily.. do they sell it in halfrauds?
Think we're all set...
BTW James - glad the hand isn't broken mate - seems it was a weekend of accidents, I got a shed load of rusty dust in my eyes from my exhaust, wasn't pretty - used all my housemates optrex up! (And then I managed to find some goggles.. ::))

Don't worry. I've got a bottle of Torco MPZ left over from and engine rebuild. I'll bring that along.
