Bah! the poor thing deserves better than a rattly old 1.3 Xflow. Even if it has got a chrome rocker cover on it. 8-)

I had one of these, I absolutely love them. Mine needed a new floorpan and every time I went through a puddle, I got soaked! It'd open with any key, or even a screwdriver, and some toe-rag found this out and nicked it and burnt it out. found it in a field on my 21st birthday :(

yeah, shame it's not a 1600, nice car though.

Evening Debs. I love you but that's not the point!! I reckon it'll make upwards of 4k. Any 2 door rwd mk1 or 2 Escorts fetch silly money at the best of times so a low mileage 1300E should fly away.
KW....(Heathen how dare you!!!!) Yes, many newer faster engines would drop in but this is a classic not a trackday car & any engine swap other than a 1600 GT xflow would detract from the car's character. I used to own a 2 door1300 sport Mk1 & it would wheel spin changing from 1st to 2nd, hit 70 in 3rd which is'nt bad. I'm a big fan of the xflow lump, it suits the cars it was fitted to & kicked the pants out of the 1600 pinto.
I only wish a 2.0 xflow existed as in the pinto but they won't bore out that far. I just think they had a punchier power delivery, sound, smell etc. Guy. 8-)

Yeah, there's something unique about them, I'll give you that. Mate of mine had a 190 BHP Xflow. Nothing under 4k rpm. All hell breaks loose above. ;D Pretty unreliable engine if tuned, though.
OK. What about a Lotus twin cam? Or a BDA? :-*
I guess it's really a car for laying up and polishing, which isn't for me. ;)

OK. What about a Lotus twin cam? ......
I stopped to 'help' what appeared to be a broken down down Lotus Elan +2 last year. The bonnet was up but he was just tweaking. It was a bit of a double take cos there was a Zetec lump in where there should've been a proper twin cam :o :o

Ahh, yes, there's a company offering a kit to rebuild an Elan around a Zetec and uprated gearbox and new chassis. Can't remember their name now. I think they do even more silly conversions using the VW/Audi 20v Turbo as well.
Given the Elan was hardly slow on the twin cam they must be good fun.
