Just polished off a lovely "Cab Sav" from Sainsburys if anyones interested - personally - I know nothing about wine, but i've found i like a lot of Californian reds but theres nothing worse than splashing out on a bottle of window cleaner or furniture polish :(
so i can recommend sainsbury's "Gray Fox, 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon" very smooth and fruity and far too drinkable.....which probably means its crap - but i like it :y and its definitely less than a fiver, because i never spend more than that ;)

tis a tricky business. price doesnt always mean a decent bottle. have been drinking wine from chile, good couple of bottles then a duff one so going to give it a go. just plucked the rhubarb from the garden and is currently reacting in a saucepan before the switchover tomorrow.
we will see... :-/

Wine from other countries! Lucky beggars. Here it is Spanish wine which really amounts to Rioja or Tempranilla. You can get a very nice faustino for a fiver. :D :D :D Drain cleaner starts at 55 cents a litre.

I did not realise you could buy wine for less than £5.
Amazing.
I think a lot of people on here might enjoy a nice Pinot Grigio Blush for the summer.

A female friend of mine got a kit out of wilkinsons a couple of weeks ago. Enough equipment to make six bottles of Red sav. And I gotta admit I don't normally drink the stuff, but it tasted very nice indeed. Worked out fairly reasonable as well. About £2.50 a bottle.

It really doesn't matter whether I'm gay or straight. At my age, I can only think about it anyway. :(
-
so can we get this thread back onto wine do you think?
Just had very nice Les Gravieres Crozes Hermitage 2007.
Would STMO123 agree to act as resident wine connoisseur?

do you have your little finger cocked in the air? ;)

Not a fan of red wine at all.
But it seems I prefer sysrupy type wine and sweet rather than dry. down side for me is I can never remember the names of what I bought for the next time round.
Once nicked a bottle of Muscadet from Mum and Dads wine chiller (The cuboard where the gas meter was) and that was lovely, but have bought Muscadet since and didnt enjoy it at all.
Wines I have enjoyed the most as daft as it is are the cheap table wines whilst on holiday in Malta that we used to take back to the villa.

skruntie-you'd probably enjoy a nice californian zinfandel rose over ice - perfect for the warm summer days i'm sure we'll be getting :y

Not daft at all. Any decent restaurant, in a wine producing country, that deals with locals has good quality house wine. The locals expect it to be good.
