The mascot idea was originally Lee's (Welung666) - I thought it was a great idea.
I think it'd do wonders for the OOF if that was undertaken.
With Lee's permission, I'd like to start that tomorrow?
You carry around the OOF mascot for the day, you photograph it when it acomponies you on your daily routine.
Tomorrow it'll be with me, and it'll travel around for the day with me. I'll then upload the photo's and explain where it's travelled and share any interesting stories or photo's of the day.
Then it will pass along to the next member (anyone who wants to be the next mascot bearer?), I will include a digital camera that's passed around so those that may not have one can share their photo's with us.
I'd urge any member to have a go, from the newbies to the well established members.
Are you a truck driver? Tell us about the interesting load you had, the nice scenery...the best road side cafe you always eat at...and a good picture of their best breakfast. I'm always looking for good full english breakfast's :D
Do you work in a shop? What do you sell?
Hairdresser, chef, taxi driver, teacher, IT specialist, mechanic, police officer, train driver, estate agent, Lord of the Manor?
There will be such a diverse bunch on here, and in most cases we just don't know about it.
It'll give us all an opportunity to share our passions, interests and daily lives with all the other members on the forum...you may find out some very interesting things and get to know different sides of some members.
It'll help us all out in different ways...for example does anyone on here do vinyl graphics suitable for vehicles? I need some doing...and one day a member who has the mascot may reveal that, otherwise I'd never have known.
Maybe someone's an electrician, builder? And you're local to a member...they find out you're a builder, electrician etc and they put work your way. It can be a great way to network both on and off the forum.
Hopefully it'll encourage us to get to know the 'real' us a bit better. The posts on a forum define the poster, sometimes they may not come across as they intended. But if we all know the 'real' person we'd undersand their post a little better.
The real reason for this, is an attempt to curb any ill feeling between members and get a greater understanding between members, and hopefully this will work.
All and any opinions welcomed :y
I'm grateful if you've taken the time to read this rather long post.

Mascot sounds like fun. Any ideas what it should be?
It'll have to come to the Lakes. ;)

Yep, good idea. Start it off for us Josh, it'll be a nice change :y :y

Not so sure about Josh providing a camera, even a cheapie. At the end of the day, we are all strangers. I'm sure everyone has access to a digital camera or phone...

Can I have it this Sunday? should be on a long trip out. No need for the Camera though Josh :y
-
what about a virtual "dunce hat" for the daftest questions and comments of the day.
(ps, would we have a enough to go around?) :)

Highly offensive comment mate.......!!
I am a Class 2 driver and have never stopped in a roadside cafe at all in my 23 year driving career.....!!
Talk about tarring us all with the same brush !!!
Please apologise else I am going to cry

It was a rather generic turn, but I've been in many trucks...though not driving and we've never failed to stop for a proper full english along the way.

I see your point TB, but it's all about trust, and the willingness to extend it to people you've never met, and I didn't want anyone to feel excluded because they don't have a camera. I know some people don't, and though a £19.99 cheap digi camera would make sure they were included. I don't expect it back, it will get damaged through no fault of anyone at some point, that's what happens to things passed around.

No idea Kevin, I'm desperately trying to think of something for tomorrow morning. Something Omega related, but not sure what?

It's a great gesture Josh, but TB's got a point, there aren't that many people around now who haven't got a camera of some sort, whether it's a phone or 'proper' camera
I'm looking forward to this :y :y

PS Josh, regarding the vinyl vehicle graphics, try Xplicit (Sean)
He did me a favour recently for my work and it was a top job, lovely chap too

Kevin
;D ;D Kevin...exact same thought. I've got a partially finished 1:43 Facelift Omega and a stripped pre face Omega model...but decided against them.
It's got to be something smallish, and able to be carried about easily. I've got a few spare 'Omega 3.2 V6' badges laying around, so thought I could attach them to some items...that makes them Omega related then :D

Thanks Martyn...that's a big help :y
That's exactly what I was hoping for, a bit of networking...helping fellow OOFers out creates excellent links between members.

You need something like a sorts trophy, with a wooden base.
Mascot on top.
and the OOF car loog on the wooden base.

It should be good Jon...the more members onborad the better it'll be! Hopefully it won't take long for it to meander its way along to the S.Wales Cardiff/Merthyr area...and then along to elsewhere

Had my Licence revoked by DVLA, for health reasons, and returned.... :y

I love my job Vamps, couldnt imagine doing anything else, I cover Lincolnshire every day and get lovely runs out to Skeggy and Mablethorpe quite regularly, average about 8-9 drops a day

That's nice to hear, not many of us can say that.. :y
HGV and PSV were, and have always been part time options, must admit I like the buses, as the load gets on and off itself, on the other hand in a truck you don't get police warnings not to stop, get out of town, Scarborough, till you get to Middlesbrough, and a Police Escort picking you up South of Whitby and making sure you do not call in on the way past....oh the good old days.... :y

Must agree....spent a lot of time there during the 80's and early 90's. Used t run a Cub Scout Pack and we would stay in Hawsker, a stones throw away, several times a year....... :y :y
-
Would a small bear (or similar) from somewhere like the bear factory with a plain black T-shirt do? Maybe Mrs TB could get the oof logo stitched on ;) :y
I'll have a look here, got loads of Xmas fayre stuff left from last year!
-
Well I've had a dig in the cupboard here, through all the leftover Xmas fayre stuff and found loads of stuffed stuff!
A few small bears, dogs, rabbits, a rather amusing looking Taz devil (cartoon variety) and a rather fetching little sheep. I'll snap a few pics and add them to this thread :y

Mascot. That is easy. I have kept all the bits that have had to be replaced on my car over the last 11 years of ownership.
Setting aside bigger heavier items like discs, the rest could be welded/glued into a pleasant looking thing. ABS ECU, DIS packs, etc etc. ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
why dont you do an oof flag on a stick, you could hang it from your caravan or tent or whatever. or your car door
-
That OofHound in your last picture looks the business Lee!, he (i'm only assuming it's a he?) looks like needs a good run out!!! ;D :y

The one on the left? He does look like an OOFer ;D ;D

Excellent Lee...I've been far busier than I thought today and haven't had time to create an OOF mascot or do anything with it today. I can't find the Omega 3.2 V6 badges either. So, if you want Lee...I think it'd be a much better idea if you started the relay of the mascot...if that's ok with you? You can choose the mascot from your suspiciously comprehensive selection of cuddly toys ;D
-
Love the idea. I'll join in as long as you don't mind photos of me sitting in a boring old office at a computer.
-
I got a cuddly LION or plenty of POOH bears we could use.
In fact I have a load of cuddly toys, a tigger maybe.

I thought little teddys where something in the gay communiy. Heard from a fried that she had a gay neighber, not the leathers and studs type but the big softie type of guy, seems when they go into bars they put little teds in thier top pockets to identify themsrlves.
So if you want want to identify Omega Owners as gay then I am selling up and buying an XJR

If we decide on soft toy etc, I'm sure Mrs TB can make a jumper with logo on...
