I'm guessing the problem is those who have a reasonable sized gas bbq (and are going to lakes) simply haven't got room in their cars?

Does the frame not come to pieces? In which case it would be a far smaller item to get in.

Ok does anyone have a gas Bar b Que they can fit into their car who is coming to The Lakes Meet?

most allow for easy-ish dismantling. Cheaper ones use self tapers, so would need minor mods to use nuts and bolts

I will see if anyone has one today, if not I will buy one then if Bob can't make it anytime we still have one.
If anyone can see anything worth having on Fleabay or B&Q etc let me know.

Hopefully he can make it though as he is The Master Chef....

Problem with that is, with 30 plus people, some eat at different times. With gas you just flick a switch and off you go ;)

I prefer a proper one, but its not really convenient enough to deal with 20+ families. Plus, when gentlemen get the nibbles after a few sherberts late into the evening, gas is more on and offable (in the voice of Creature Comforts)

Is not the top of an Omega V6 engine not hot enough for BBQ'ing after a good run Daz? :-/

The motorists of the past used to cook all kinds of things on top of their engines! :D :D ;)

Cheers Daz. I like cooking for folk & there will be the usual curry for the first night, maybe a chilli for the 2nd night which i'll cook in the van for everyone but someone will have to man the barbie. I don't mind BB'ing for a few at home but i'm sure some one will step in. Main thing is we've got one so i'm sure we'll manage.
Beastie dropped off @ MM's today for a new rabbit hutch before any more towing.

REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS NOW!!!!! 8-)

A good few years ago I met up with some lads from St. Helens and Wigan and they invited me to go on a charter fishing trip that they use from Anglesey. We all set off from St. Helens at stupid o'clock in the morning in the back of a transit van, as we approached Conway the driver pulled up and along with the front seat passenger they got out and opened the bonnet.I was sat in the back of the van puzzled thinking I didn't detect anything wrong with the engine, with that the pair appeared from the front of the van juggling a number of black Bury black puddings wrapped in foil ready for consuption. from experience they had leart that they where cooked to perfection at the same spot on the road about a mile before Conway. Hugh fearnley whatnot had a similar recipe for cooking a fish in tin foil, oil, lemon, herbs & seasoning on the manifold of his series 3 Landy......30mph for 45 minutes!!!! 8-)

Late to this but I'll be taking a Gas Barbie to the lakes .. not as big and flash as bob's .. but it works well enough .. :)

Attendees are more than welcome to use it .. :)

Self assembly, any good for you?

Mick ;)
