Excluding fuel, insurance MOT, road tax I have spent nearly as much as I paid for the car on maintaining the car.
Around £1300 on tyres.
£300 exhaust
Engine rebuild cost me about £500 (heads, cams, divider, oil cooler, gaskets & bolts, cam belt kit, water pump ect)
Spent about £700 on suspension & steering components and WIM visits. (New Springs, 2 lots of rear shocks, rubbish wishbones, poly bushes, new ball joints, £69 with Tony a couple of times).
Brakes - had two front disc sets in the time I have owned it and also I have a complete set of pads discs shoes to go on the back.
That gate hit £450!!!!
Then I can add in HID kit, CD changer.
Recently new 135 coil pack, Bosch MAF, front Lambdas £230 to £240 in total.
However I have had the car 4.5 years.
The engine didn't need a lot of the parts, oil cooler was prevention, cams was for fun and heads to pre overhaul to save me a day.

......
I've had mine since Sept 03, last year I spent around £1000 on paintwork, all doors, a little on a rear wing and my bonnet. I reckon as the car is worth bugger all, I get the benefit of its condition and better the devil .......... re mechanicals :y

£3500 as added up
4.5 years 54 months
Monthly average £64.81
per week £14.95
Considering that there is some preventitive work there, and 2 sets of rears plus 2 sets of front disks I dont think thats too bad, but then ahain I dont know if you do a high mikeage.
What miles have you covered in this ownwership.

You need an old Rover diesel, I've owned it 4 years, its just covered 100000 miles and i've replaced a clutch £30 for a genuine one off Ebay, 2x CV joints £50 Contitech again off Ebay, rear exhaust box £40 Chester Exhaust supplies and a Gates cambelt and tensioners and injection pump belt £70 off yes you've guessed it, Ebay. £190 all in, now thats cheap motoring ;)
