some of ours have left to join there army for better pay and conditions.

just as well really then, but can understand why the blokes on tv this morning left ours for theirs if they are better off. if your gonna get sent to afganistan or wherever, best go out there for something a bit more worthwhile than what they get here.

Lol no.
Thing is that wages (in the absence of excessive union control) are driven by market forces.....in a capitalist world you pay the least you can get away with.
There are still more recruits than places so no need to raise wages :y
