Title: Lakes meet - regional variations
Post by: hotel21 on 14 June 2010, 20:48:45
Just me casually throwing a wee spanner in the prospective works here.....   ;)

Anyone up for bringing a wee bit of regional food/drink to the upcoming meet at the Lakes?

I know that there will be malt (ask me how I know ...  ::)  ) but....

Thinking on an idea from another thread.  What about your local micro brewery?  I know that there are more than a few on here that like their ale (and thats not Wife Beater or other mass produced stuff) that would be willing to share?  I know I'm more than willing to bring some fresh from my 'local' - http://www.fyfebrewery.co.uk/ - so, anyone else interested/willing?

That's settled, then. A detour via either Triple FFF or the Hog's back brewery on the cards, methinks. :y

That reminds me. I have a failed home brew in the garage from about 6 months ago - now buried under bits of Westfield. I wonder what that tastes like now. ::)

Rhymney Brewery, now based in Dowlais. They have a fantastic pint called Hobby Horse. If anyone is going from these parts (Johnnycool - Sixstring - Sethsmate) they could bring a sample. Brewery owned by a friend of mine from a long time ago called Steve Evans. Drink it if you dare, has a kick like a Hobby Horse.
You have been warned.

If only I could make it....   :'(

Oh well, at least I won't have to decide between Williams Brothers, Mansefield or Harviestoun.  I like 'em all!

Sorry... can't hear you... glug, glug, glug.

What'd'ya say... oh sorry, I've just finished the last one  :D

That's one of my particular favourites!  What a shame a 40 pint poly-pin only keeps for 10-14 days  8-)

.. of course the next question is how much to bring. How many real ale drinkers do we have, and how many are bringing beer? Just in case we end up with a 40 pint polypin each.  ;)

Actually.. 40 pints.. 20 each night. ::)

I'm sure Billy Connolly did a sketch on "what if farts were coloured"

It was hilarious.  Never laughed so much in my life!

Great to be able to put a face to the name, hopefully next time we'll get a better chance to exchange GSi Carlton experiences!  Like, how many knuckles have you lost trying to get the viscous fan off?  ;D

Oh, and this is my 250th post... yeee-haaa... only joined 2˝ years ago!

You'd be welcome, of course. :y I should point out that Alton, Hampshire is about 180 miles South of Alton Towers, though. ;)

Nevertheless, I have left Mrs. KW with instructions to peruse the brewery shop at triple FFF in her lunch break today so let's see what fruit she returns with. :y
