Title: My Eon Bill
Post by: Mr Skrunts on 24 June 2010, 13:57:13
Allthough I have paid what was asked when asked I have never had a meter read by themselves.  I started to pay electric on the 1st June 2009 (When I was given the keys, I then had to preapere beor moving in.  I gave them a meter reading on the 1st June 2009.

It finaly got arranged for a meter reading to take place in Feb 2010, they didnt yurn up. then arranged for March, turned up but not used, then I was told all wouuld be made correct from a meter reading taken 28/4/2010, they just processed the bill and now want £594.20 and tell me they will give me 3% discount if paid promtly with in 14 days.

Discount - I have paid promptly, till now and dont see them getting paid in full in 14 days.

The readings I had to wait in for do not appear on any of the bills.

Plus I am not even sure if all the money I have paid to date has been accounted for.

Plus

Normal primary units used at 21.57p each
Normal secondary units used at 9.51p each

Look at the differemces of each of the primary values for each bill, why do they vary so much, whty is it not the same ammount of unites per bill period.

The number of primary units are worked out in an odd way ... so as to even the spread over the whole year.

I believe the number of primary units per year is 900 kwH (I might be reading the wrong tariff but the princilple is the same .. . so they divide 900 by 365 then multiply it by the number of days of that bill (statement).
Thus over the year you get the correct number of primary units and pay the other units at the secondary rate.

EDIT - looks like I read the right tariff ..

Working back through your bill . and using the second one from the bottom as an example .. ('cos its easy) ..

900/365 = 2.4657

Bill period 5 Feb - 23 Feb = 18 days

2.4657 X 18 = 44.38   so you are charged 44 Kw at primary rate ..

Looks ok to me ... The argument about when/how your meter has been read or not is a different one I'm afraid

Entwood, that makes sence, but why are they billing me twice in one month (Feb)  all this should me fairly straight forward.

So if I had up my primary colounm of units it should be approx 900

Just checked

861 to 17th May
955 to 24th June

Cheers Entwood  :y :y

Why cant they explain that as simple as you just have when they are on the phone to me.

That is actually my main gripe with them, has been organised so many times.

The Gas side, read the meter outside and bill me 2 days later.

The Electric side as it is so far doesnt seen to be able to sort out a good night out in a brewery, they would hold the event the week/month before they advertised it.  :-/

Seems I offended someone -  :-X  Ah well, cant please everyone.  ::)

This seems to be a very complicated arrangement, my meter is read every three months just before the bill arrives.

I've never had a problem and I know where I stand on a regular basis on the amount of energy I use and am charged for.

Which is all I have ever wanted Zulu.

Thety have agreed to defineately 2 meter reading s a year, April and October with estimate in between.  I can cope with that, but this has been a farce with them all year,

Looking forward to the Smart meters, instant and acurate billing, plus it seems I can monitir my usage on my PC.

I'm with Scottish power. Every quarter I get a meter reading request by email. I read the meters and enter them into their farcical web site and job done. :y

They didn't even charge me an estimated bill for the 9 months when my leccy meter had stopped recording. ::)

Further to my previous post Mr S, I pay 14.31 ppu for any energy used (not EON) - my last quarterly reading to May 5th was 1461 units used making a bill of £219.52.

This form of accounting seems more readily understood, to me at least, can they not just give you a single unit cost - without those other complicating factors?

They rely on the complicating factors that prevent you comparing deals and discovering you're being taken for a ride. Same as mobile phone contracts, Sky TV, BT, etc. >:(

Skruntie and M : This constant bickering is getting tiresome. If it's not possible to see eye to eye can we please at least learn to turn the other cheek and ignore each other?

Skruntie and M, please sort your differences, or learn to either get on, or learn to ignore each other.  We are not interested in who started what/how/when, but the end result is getting somewhat tiresome for everyone.

Thankyou in advance for your cooperation :y
