Yep, the man himself is live in concert tomorrow ........
Extra trains are being provided to get fans home.
Just got a call from our friendly resource controller:
"Can you extend your duty tomorrow evening mate, and we'll get you a taxi all the way home afterwards?"
(At around 0130 hours).
Consider it done dear sir!

He has put a fair bit back into his home town with a music institute he supports but I do find him a bit irritating.
Ringo is a complete tw*t and will likely be chinned if he ever shows his face in this town again following comments he made on TV last year!!

The Beatles were the Beatles - John Paul George Ringo, together a fantastic combination of personality and talent, they blazed the way live and in the studio for the generations of bands that came after, but destined to spend the rest of their lives as Beatles - the whole was greater than the sum of its parts, things wouild have been different any other way.
Lennon was a tortured genius, he advocated peace but was always ready for a punch up and blast an incompetent session musician out of the studio, MacCartney was the dreamer and Sgt Pepper man, though his output suffered without his negative pole John.
George as the youngest Beatle always seemed to have a complex about this and was serious about his input, and found his true "family" in his faith, Ringo was always happiest to hang out with his Hollywood buddies and his "retirement", he seems to be at odds with his roots, a brave attempt in Liverpool was meant to correct this but seems to have backfired.
Love or hate Macca, he is still flying the flag for the fab four and despite his personal difficulties is always cheery and ready for some fun - the true spirit of 60's rock, he seems to have come through unscathed, is proud of his past, and always bounces back... 8-)

Yes, he wrote a few good songs but, like many of his ilk, he thinks that the ability to pen music has made him a great sage on all issues of life.
As soon as entertainers veer off into politics and morality, they cease to carry my respect.
Macca falls into that category for me. :(

He has been living on past glories since 1970, Cant stand the bloke tbh, I thought him and heather mills were a good match, they deserved each other.
George Harrison on the other hand, wrote many of the best songs I have ever heard, many of them after the Beatles. ;)

I grew up with the Beatles music, my older brother bought Please Please Me after he saw them play in 1962 at the Kings Heath Ritz.
Paul McCartney is a total musical Genius.

sadly it seems its trendy to knock paul, cool to like george and john (both of whom are also fabulously talented song writers) but please whats the last 40yrs got to do with anything? frankly it he'd of written a fraction of those songs and retired he'd still be a legend :y

I am well aware of his songwriting genius while he was a Beatle - I am in awe of his talent during that period.
To me it is one of lifes great mysteries, how someone who was that good could very quickly become as crap as he did, and remain utterly crap ever since. I also find his mannerisms and general persona, so OTT and insincere, that it is actually embarrasing to watch him talk or sing.
The last 40 years btw,is about 70% of his career. ::)
Btw - I thought Lennon,post Beatles was nothing but a naive hypocritical tosser. Imagine theres no countries - grow up John ffs. ::) ;D

last 40yrs, as i said, isn't the point - he peaked and when he did, there's few(any?) who could match his talent for crafting greatness - so i'll happily give him a pass on his post-beatles career, albs. boy - you're a hard one to please :y

Instead we have to hear him sing his post Beatles crap, or hear him performing very poor versions of his own classics - quite sad really.
I think Lennon would now be in a similar position if he hadnt died. Sudden death is the greatest career move in pop after all.
Does anyone remember the double fantasy album he had just finished before he died ? Pure syrupy,sugary dross. He was anything but cool just before he went to find out if he was really imagining that there was no heaven or hell. ;)

OK so you've dismissed McCartney....who does the great and mighty Albs deem to be worthy of "legendary" status I wonder, I mean if the chief songwriter of the greatest band of all time doesn't come up to scratch I'm really curious ::)

to all of you who knock him......I was at Hampden and was totally blown away!!!! Firstly for a 68 year old to do 2hrs 50min on stage without a break takes some doing. Secondly you cannot see Lennon or Harrison LIVE so any comparison is unfair. Thirdly you are seeing a music icon and living legend perform songs that are ingrained in your memory from Beatles through to Wings - watch the uploads on Youtube or the live link from Hyde Park on 27th.

Almost absolutely right Banjax! Any musician who can die knowing he has composed such a fabulous list of songs as that, which made our young years and later ones up to today so pleasurable, must be classed as a pure genius! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :y :y :y :y

Have just arisen after my mammoth stint yesterday evening .......

Everything seemed to go off pretty well, with no 'on train' hassle from fans.
They were very appreciative of us providing extra late train services to get them home.
A very good crowd all in all, and a good few quid better off to swell the 'Sethsmate Welland Steam Rally Kitty'!
