Have just been asked in my office....
"why do you drive that old cronk of a Vauxhall with that bloody big gas-guzzling engine, when you could have a brand-new company Mundeo TD estate???"
He was most offended when I gave him my answer, and told me I was some kind of an idiot for keeping it, "should have been scrapped years ago................"
And HE drives a Toyota Yaris.............Bloody fuming now.Cheeky so and so.
(BTW, mines got LESS rust on it than his 54 plate car!!!)
-
So did you tell them it's because you think it's a better car?
-
Happened to mention the words "crap" , "rusty heap" , "japanese" , and "small" in the same sentence........and intimated at the fact his brain cell may be a little lonely with no friends to keep it company........

He has a point. ;D ;D
-
you should have told him his car is called the "yaris" cos youve got to be a total "`arris" to drive one, :D
-
Rip him a new arsehole, he's obviously using the one he has to talk out of! ;) :y

Don't think so........his car does 40 to the gallon, granted. but he can't carry much, and if he does, fuel consumption goes down to the thirties. His insurance is more than mine, and he has no aircon, or luxuries like leather seats, auto, or load caryring space like mine has. If you really load mine up, 5 people and a suitcase each fits, and has very little effect on fuel consumption, and I get about the same as him on a long run.......
No contest really, as mine cost three times LESS than his, and has less rust!!!

I was only joking ;D Touched a raw nerve or what? :P
-
Nah..........he really decided to have a good pop at me, and I was on form for once..........
He's gone home early for some reason...............
-
Just re-read your post. What modern car would not have air con? And who would buy it? Doesn't make sense, unless it's specifically meant for the fleet market......even so......ridiculous.
-
Yes, it is a company car, and no, it doesn't have aircon....its on a 54 plate too and the "poverty spec" model.
But.... that was what he wanted 3 years ago when he was offered a company car and told of the C.C tax he would have to pay if he had "extras" fitted.
And I get £400 a year allowance for using my own vehicle, and 20p per mile for business miles done. who's got the right idea?

compared with comfort and performance
miggy will win hands down ;D
I also drive a go-kart but thats for short distances

He sounds like a total T.W.A.T ;D ;D ;D :y

Did you mention to him that it takes a heck of a lot of energy to build a car, as much as if not more than it will use in it's entire lifetime. So keeping old cars that are not polluting or dangerous on the road for longer is in fact beneficial to the environment. If he can't get his head around that then he needs to stop knitting yoghurt jumpers and smoking herbal substances with the hippies.

We recently did a 300km journey in a Yaris in Poland.
5 up, with 3 suitcases, flight bags and camcorder bags etc and I tell you, it was a journey from hell
Sooooooo nice to get back into our Omega when we got back to the UK and just chuck all the luggage in the boot and have plenty of space for us all to relax in.
Had to carry a suitcase and flightbags on our legs in the Yaris, hellish cars........
:y :y :y

I would have told him you like to travel in comfort and style and not in a crappy yuppie mobile. Lol
-
I do sympathise, there are a lot of this mentality at my work. The new car scheme was announced, but with a limit of 120g/CO2. Now that puts you in a Golf Bluemotion. I'm not in the scheme (too junior) but I regularly get told to get something smaller as 'it must be costing a fortune' ::).
More fool them as I am getting 28ish mpg on lpg.... and they are doing about 30k /yr in a poverty spec Golf.
-
MY point exactly!!!
-
Take him for a spin in it, see what he thinks then :y
