Can you charge a laptop via your cig lighter in an omega??? and where would i get 1 if you can please....Only i`m watching over a marquee in Bham at a priests college and the laptop will be the only thing to stop us goin mad.... :D

no, you need a 240v inverter, best take a feed direct from the battery to the inverter. and put a fuse on it.
Something like this:

Things like this must be a figment of my imagination then.

I have a 300watt invertor from maplins, cost me £19.99, only used it once with a P4 sony vaio from rotherham to wigam and back when I went to pick my diplomat wheels up.
Superb unit, would recomend one. :y

Tried those, don't work very well. Much more reliable having a direct feed :y

Never had a problem with mine, does the direct feed have to be gaffer taped externally to cool the wiring??

Could have been the Senny's ciggy lighter but it was very flaky. I was running a very beefy laptop though, direct feed though with gaffer tape no issues ;D

they are ok but try only to charge when laptop is off

No problem running a small inverter from a ciggy lighter. Laptops only need 40 or 50 watts at the absolute most.

The 'Universal' ones are fine, as long as there is an adaptor pin that fits your lappy ( the one I bought didn't fit my Compaq Presario). I use it for powering the in-car DVD player for the grandkids now. I have a 12v to 240v inverter that plugs into the rear seat power point for the lappy now (the plug wont fit the front one for some reason :o) & it has built in fuse & USB plug, cost £10 from the bay. :y

Dont forget the fuse... ;D ;D ;D :y.....and the wire itself does not count as a fuse [smiley=tongue.gif]

Gaffer tape is an excellent fuse ::) - Also handy weather protection :P
