Title: Juice diet
Post by: Elite Pete on 05 July 2010, 10:24:11
Wifey is concerned about our health and has decided after reading lots and lots of rubbish that we are going on a juice diet. She's bought a juicer and for the last 3 days we've been living on juiced fruit and veg which tastes terrible (I hate the taste of anything healthy) Yesterday she was complaining of a bad head which is apparently common because her body is craving carbs ect and she can't understand why i'm not suffering as well, so its time I come clean, I had a steak and onion batch yesterday while she was out ::) There i've done it, i've come clean and I feel alot better for it. One thing I will say about the juice diet, the fruit, veg and bog role bill has gone through the roof ;D

Do the words      POO, NEEDLE, and EYE (rearrange to form a sentence) ring any bells yet, mate?//

Tried "juicing"......all it did for me was make me more "regular", and give me a massive headache.

Didn't lose any weight though, just made me feel bloated!!

These diets are seldom successful as most people get cheesed off juicing the stuff in the first place then having to clean the machine afterwards.

Taking nutrients in a liquid form - especially fruit - also raises the blood/glucose levels quite quickly which results, in many cases, in a rapid fall leading to hunger and of course the temptation to eat.

If you look at the glycemic index of the various food groups you'll see the sense in eating foods that result in a slower rise in glucose levels such as whole grains and the like.  The longer you feel full, the less likely you are to eat between meals.

It's also important to ensure that you're getting sufficient nutrients when on a diet - something that many people fail to do.

I threatened to divorce my wife when she went on a cabbage diet, twas like living in a sewer.
Funny enough, when she thought it might lead to divorce, her consumption tripled. :(

I know a few people who tried this and only managed to gain weight! :o :o

Best way to lose weight is by eating a healthy diet, but liquidise it into soup... That way you stay full for longer. Well, that's what it said on some TV program SWMBO watched... I wouldn't know, I haven't tried to lose weight ::)

Effectivly Pete you have been doing a form of detox.

P.s.  Diets dont work - when you return to your normal eays you gain what you lost plus a bit extra.

The only way to go forward is to find a healthy balance that works for the idividual.

I have tried allsorts to lose weight and just gave up in the end, sadly my down fall is fizzy pop. :-[

I lost 7 stone in 2005 and put it back on 2006-now;

I ate well, swam half mile every morning and night and it just fell off.  Swapped pints for gin and slimline tonic, cut out bread and ate "what my body most wanted".

When I stopped and it came back with a vengeance.

There is no simple answer to dieting other than you need to burn more than you eat while losing, then find a way to maintain when you reach the right weight.  I got fit, got attractive, then partied it all on again....

Must start again soon... >:( my car is getting tight and I look like my airbags went off  >:( >:(

I had a Daihatsu Copen convertible which is about as big as a large shoe.  They called me Stuart Little...

My Parents also do not have loyalty card points at the salad bar and were forced to used a Matiz as a courtesy car.  They both had on similar colour jackets and when I saw them in the Matiz they looked like Siamese twins  :y

There's only one way to lose weight - eat sensibly (i.e. balanced and varied diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg) and get lots of exercise. This is true now and will be in 100 years time.
I reckon too many people go on diets expecting to lose weight when they get zero exercise and still slob out on the sofa every night watching telly! It ain't rocket science...

It's not the bread, it's what you put on it.

As many have said there is wonder of miracle diet, just take in less than you work off. I've been yo yo ing my weight since my late 20's/early 30's. I've piled 2 stone back on since my hernia op in feb. I've recently come off full time light duties & now do the odd trailer job which involves a modicum of exercise. Crash dieting is ok at first as you burn fat reserves but when they'll gone you start burning muscle...basically your body is eating itself & your internal organs will start to suffer. We all need a balanced diet whatever our build but those of us of larger proportions need to combine this with exercise which i will do once this sweaty weather most of you love has taken it's departure & the cool, fresh autimn finally arrives, i'll be cycling everywhere!!!!! 8-)

Eat little and often.

If hungry have a glass of water - often settles the hunger.

Dont drink fizzy pop - a can of coke contains equiv to 50 cubes of sugar.

Drink 8 glasses of water a day (Approx 2 litres)

Eat from a smaller plate - reduce portions gradually.

Make it a way of life and enjoy it then becomes a normality, this is why diets dont work.

If you wanna lose weight, split carbs and protiens as they neutralise each other.

Fish and chips

baked spud and cheese or beans

Eat one half of the 2 mentioned and leave the other - on thier own and not to excess they are not too bad.

Try not to eat 3 hours before bed.

Carbs for lunch give energy.

Protein at night helps relax and tire you ready for sleep.

Dont forget the 5 a day rule.

Most salad, fruit and veg are classed as neutral so you can add to meals and bulk up.

10lb in 10 days.

Poached/boiled eggs

Beans or plum tomatoes.

Grilled bacon

Mushrooms as and when

NO BREAD OR BUTTER

This is a basic Atkins diet advised only for 10 days, tried it when I was 17 and overweight in a competion with the works nurse.

She lost 9 lbs and thought she had won the box of chocolate prize
I lost 13 lbs  ::)  (Worked in a food factory)

Only advised for a maximum of 10 days - I actually suggest try it for 5 and in theory you can eat as often as you want.
