As above as far as i am aware the law state you have to display a valid tax disc but i t doesn't say where it has to be displayed. So my question is can i display it in the rear window. Im not trying to be awkward or annoy police ect but i hate having anything in the front window so if i can put it in the rear its out my sight but still easily visable to anyone who wants to see it. Any advise or thoughts welcome...

Regulation 6 Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations 2002
The licence shall be fixed to the vehicle protected from the weather and clearly visible in daylight from the nearside of the road and exhibited :-
. Vehicles with windscreens extending across the front of the driver to the nearside,
- on or adjacent to the nearside of the windscreen
So, it has to be on the front windscreen, nearside. :y

Nope, front left hand of screen. When I was young we used to put it in the middle at the top, but not legal as such, sure you can not put it on the back. However these days it is is all anpr so they can tell if you have tax wherever you put it.............. :)

I remember years ago getting a lecture off a police constable on foot for not displaying as already said. He said it was to make it easy for them to check a row of parked vehicles.I also had the disc upside down which didn't go down too well, this was pre traffic warden days.

I am not suprised that the public attitude towards the police and 'trivial' motoring offences is so low. >:(
This is a true event that happened to me......
A few years ago, whilst on the way to work, the police had a checkpoint in a usual place on my route. 200 yards from the checkpoint I had entered the main road, and hit a bump and my tax disc holder (one of those chrome ones with the screw back), fell onto the top of the dashboard. ABSOLUTELY TRUE
I was flagged into the check, and when plod arrived at my window, I was told I was not displaying a tax disc, which was why I was stopped. >:(
I appologised and said its just dropped off. I attached it and it fell off again, so I wetted it again, screwed the back and it stayed on fine. :y
But plod, although seeing A FULL YEAR'S tax, still wanted to see all my documents, licence, insurance, which I had except MOT certificate. Only after fierce protestations and my threat to take it further and I asked for his number did he say he would not charge me this time !!!!!!
He still filled in the forms and made me take the MOT and the logbook to the local plod station, which was a hassle as no near parking. >:(
Its not as though I was a boy racer....I was in a Senator in spanking condition, and dressed in a suit, and middle aged !!!

mate of mine got pulled in his left hand drive audi because he had the tax disc on the right hand lower screen so that his view out was not obstructed, they made him move it the left side but after a discussion let him put it at at the top of the n/s screen

No reason why you couldn't stick it to the top of the dash in the nearside, though. That would keep the screen clear.
Many kit cars have a holder mounted to the body on the nearside of the car due to little or no windscreen space.
