Britain fined £150m by Brussels for failing to 'fly EU flag'
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/7878417/Britain-fined-150m-by-Brussels-for-failing-to-fly-EU-flag.html
By my calculation that's about 6 brand new schools. The EU bureaucrats simple don't care about anything else than their own over-inflated sense of grandeur.
Grrr! >:( >:( >:(

We should not pay it, what they going to do? Evict us? ;D
-
they ought to stuff their flag where the sun don't shine >:(
-
'Along with other major economies, Britain is a net contributor to the EU and this year expects to pay £6.4billion more to Brussels than it receives back'
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
SO WHY DON'T WE GET OUT >:( >:( >:( >:(

WTF? If the EU helped fund such projects, then ,fair enough, the projects should recognize that contribution and if the agreement is to display the EU flag then they should do it, but to fine them?Just hope we dont pay it.

If we can only build 6 schools for that sort of cash then its no wonder we are in a mess!

New secondary schools for a 1500 student roll cost around £25m each, ball park. Remember, such buildings are very specialised with gyms, labs and so on. Plus, these days, the IT costs are astronomic. :o

Fools, absolute fools. The British person or persons who accepted the money for the projects. They are the ones that should be made to pay the "fine" not the taxpayer. This sort of sensationalism gets my goat. If they didn't want to display a sign saying funded by the EU then why accept the money in the first place. It truly beggars belief.
Like I keep saying we are IN the EU club so need to abide by its rules. If we don't like it then we ought not to be in the club.

Seems over priced.....I guess to designer.
Our new building was 18M and a lot more specialised than a school!

Being a great supporter of the EU concept I must say I'm inclined to agree with Snr. V on this one.
As it appears well-nigh impossible to realistically withdraw from the 'club' we should ensure that we understand the rules and play them to our own advantage - as the other more established members do.
Why shouldn't we screw them for all we can get - we contribute enough, although having said that, our understanding of how the 'system' works seems to be based on the gutless and slavish devotion of those charged with administering EU matters here to follow directives to the letter when it doesn’t matter, and not to when it does. :-?

And IT? A couple of Research machines 380Zs did us fine. ;D

I actually believe this is true:
A spokesman said: "The EU has not fined the UK GBP150m and most definitely not for 'not displaying the EU flag'. :-?
The original report was taken from the daily liar mail.

most unlike that fine upstanding house of journalistic integrity to let the facts stand in the way of a good headline :o
standards must be slipping at the Mail so, to save you reading it, why not generate your own headlines?
