Title: Annoying scum
Post by: Nickbat on 09 July 2010, 13:17:08
My email address is currently being used to send "inappropriate content" around. Probably the same gits that keep trying to flog me enhancement pills and the like.

It's happened before, and I know it'll die down in the next few days, but it is very annoying having to delete the "delivery failure" and "address block" mails.

No point in changing my address at this point as it won't stop them and it will be a huge task as I would have to notify all my business contacts, personal contacts and the many sites I want to maintain contact with (including my bank!).

Wretched spammers. I wish them all a long and painful demise. >:( >:(

I agree this is a real nuisance Nick! >:( >:(

Yesterday I had an e-mail from my daughter with an attachment.  The e-mail was from her, but the attachment was not!! :o :o :o

Also I have had strange e-mails to me, but addressed to other people and with attachments you have to open.  Obviously I just delete very quickly.

The people behind all this should die slowly!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

what email prog are u using? if this is happening through outlook, make up a new contact and name it something like aaaa@aaa.co.uk.

This address will be at the top of your contacts list, when the virus tries to mass email from your address book itll try send it to the 1st address and fail so it wont send to the rest.

Worth a try eh?

I use Eudora ( :y), but they're spamming it from my website, I think.  :(

My own contacts are not involved, thank goodness. On occasions, I have received spam purportedly from myself!  :o :o

Best way around it, IMHO is to have a "junk" email address for anything risky (mailing list subscriptions, signing up to unscrupulous companies' sites, etc.). Then you can bin anything that comes in unless you're expecting something. I have an address with a set of rules where everything gets binned unless it's from a mailing list to which I'm subscribed.

Bit late now, though, I'm afraid. :'(
