Your in no hurry then! ;D ;D

I know The Boy and Kevin Wood both have petrol lawn mowers - but then lawn mowers are faster ;D ;D
-
You need the one with the rollback roof. Weld a scaffold pole either side and use it as a wheelbarrow ;D

Well, I've got two and a strimmer, so that's more than half a 2CV engine. ;)
Kevin
EDIT: Oh, and a generator.

More power in one cylinder of my car than a whole 2CV.
Last engine of that size I used was over 80bhp

Daft posting on OOF site as 2CV and Omega are opposite ends of the spectrum..... ;D ;D
I have had loads of cars and I just bonded with the 2CVs. My first experience of one was being sat in a beer garden looking at one across a car park and debating loudly as to who in their right minds would own up to owning THAT?
I was finally persuaded to go for a spin in it (as per Albs post!) and laughed so much it hurt. A week later I had one.
I drove my last one to Prague via Geneva, Alps, Rome, Venice, Austria then back through Germany to Brussels and then Amsterdam. I got home and some daft old bat pulled into the side of it and wrote it off. I was physically sick and cried for weeks. I still miss it now.
I miss the events and social side-one meeting in Italy in 2003 had 10,000 people and was like Glastonbury, with museum exhibits, rare display cars, huge market, auto jumble, live music, convoys, drive-outs (raids), local foods, bonfires, barbecues, cheap beer-once you bought a souvenir 2CVGB world meet flagon, a big beer was 1 Euro.
There were free technical help areas and some guys even did chassis swaps with free expert help! It was a complete blast.
2CVGB is the only other forum as good as OOF, too-but they do charge £25 per year; you do get a really good monthly magazine though. Like OOF everyone mucks in and helps others, which is great.
I have never had more motoring fun than in a 2CV-they are brilliant once you understand their quirks, and they are so practical and comfortable-and cheap to run. My last one cost £900, the same car would now be £3000+ and prices are rising fast.
The next World Meet is in France next July-I'm planning to be there if I find the right 2CV first; preferably a 1987 green Bamboo or 70s/80s in a bright colour.

Takes all sorts......
My only experience of a 2CV was on a racetrack as a passenger, amazed how far over they will go before they flip........only 50 or so mph, but felt like twice that, with a LOONY driver who just didn't want to be anywhere but first place, and if he killed a few others along the way, so what..........
great fun, but you have to be a bit mad to drive one, that gearchange................
-
I must admit I once found myself sitting in one of these thinking what a total hoot it would be to own one. :D

Not enough power to do much damage to yourself or your license. Not enough power to justify driving it at anything other than balls out everywhere you go. I think I would hate it and love it at the same time. :D

Your'e beginning to understand the attraction, then..............!

I struggled with the Omega, simply because I am used to small cars and thrashing them to absolute death, rather than cruising about, half asleep.
The most fun you can have with any vehicle is driving it right up to (and sometimes beyond) its limits: in a 2CV this happens within the national speed limit and you can scream with laughter watching the reactions of others around you.
I got to learn how to get the very best out of mine-tuned, specific tyre choice, suspension wound down a few turns-and I have no fear at all.
Even my 2.5V6 Alfa 156 owning friend had to admit defeat on trying to chase me from Clee Hill to Tenbury down the very twisty back road ;D
Speed hump? What speed hump?
Straight OVER the island? No problems!
With 28 bhp and 4 gears, fun comes immediately, not trying to find the progressive breakaway point of low profile tyres at 100mph.
Oh-the gears:
There is no better shift pattern or layout in my eyes; there is a ball on an umbrella handle poking out of the dash-
Hand on with weight of your arm, push away-reverse
Hand on with weight of your arm, pull to you-1st
Hand no weight, push away 2nd
Hand no weight, pull to you 3rd
Push (like going into 5th on H box) right, 4th
Reverse and 1st opposite for maneuvering
2nd and 3rd oppsite for most of your racing-change needs
4th like overdrive-a good one will do 70 all day once wound up
Simples!
No power steering, but no need-it is set up to be full of feel forwards (light car anyway) and very light going backwards-so once you have learnt the car, you just do most tight turns in reverse-parallel park is simple. This is one example of having to know the car properly to appreciate it better-it is not idiot-proof like most cars are now.
The whole car is full of mechanical feel-no servo, no power anything-so much less to go wrong, especially when you drive as hard as I do ;)
God, I want another one ;D

Meant to say that many 2CVers are Land Rover or motorbike owners too-seemed a common thread on meets
-
Funny you should say that.......my neighbour has a landy and a motorbike, and is building something car-shaped in his shed..........must take him a beer one warm night and investigate!!

Thanks for that :y
I have been searching all the sites for weeks;
auto trader, carandclassic.com, 2CVTV.com, ebay, google, 2CVGB.com plus all the dealers like sillycvs, Frome etc;
That blue one is cheapish now, but the colour does not suit the 2CV. Look at the prices now:
http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C148066/ £7000
http://www.2cvtv.com/forsale/forsalepics6097.html £6250
http://www.2cvtv.com/forsale/forsalepics6108.html £6495
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201017357827384/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/2_cv/make/citroen/page/1/postcode/hr68lh/radius/1500/quicksearch/true?logcode=p £3995
http://www.2cvcity.co.uk/2cv-for-sale/2cv-city-show-car £9995
My last one was a first class 1987 car and cost £900 a few years ago-the same car is now £4000+.
Even cars to break are fetching £600 on ebay and anything with an MOT fetches £1200 regardless of needing a new chassis. I have tracked sales and have been staggered by the prices now, but this is peak time-they are cheaper in winter.
I have just sold my 2007 5 door hatchback with air-con back to the dealer to buy a 1987 2CV for the same price....
It has been too long ::)
