Title: Off to WIM on Friday
Post by: Lazydocker on 06 July 2010, 21:19:24
Having replaced the Wishbones and taken the slack out of the steering box today, I'm off to WIM for a 13:00 appointment on Friday (SWMBO is working in Hoddesdon so I thought I'd take advantage and nip over).

Anyone local to there want to pop up and say hello?

They couldn't budge my pas side rear track rod end, and don't seem to be able to get the steering wheel straight either. :-/

Tony did mine last time... He had to get it very hot ::) ::) They're getting serious Plus Gassing at the moment. ;D ;D

My steering wheel is no longer straight, but I have taken all the slack out of the steering box and, along with the new wishbones, it has completely transformed the car :y :y

It's strange how you don't notice how bad things are getting when they get worse gradually :-[

Hope so... Plan to be well on my way to Dorset by then after popping back to Hoddesdon for SWMBO :y

When I was there last Tony was keeping pairs of recon track rod ends available so if he can't adjust yours he can swap them out...for a price  ::).

Sat outside WIM in the sunshine as I'm early and they're busy doing a westfield. Guy in a MX5 just left after travelling down from Newcastle!

Shall await the bad news ::)

Josh, if you're reading this and thinking of coming over, check the traffic first... Big accident on M40 and it's closed, but not sure where.

Beyond our turn towards chavsville (Banbury), but alledgedly over an hour delay.

Keep tuned to TrafficMaster ;)

Glad I did my hauling a trailer up and down the M40 yesterday, then. Had the hammer down getting the trailer back to the hire place before they closed as it was. :-X

Not too painful... Rear adjusters solid and wouldn't budge but Tony said it wasn't far enough out to justify spending money on them... Front needed heat but wasn't too far out... Still transformed the handling though. Another big thumbs up for WIM :y :y

Even just after a small tune up after i had some new front boots on, still made a very noticeable difference

Not that it matters now, but I think it was £75 a side, or maybe a pair, so if there's little in it as Tony found out, it's not worth swapping them out.  Can't be sure on the price as I had them changed on my previous Omega and I chucked out all the paperwork a while ago  :).

I can vaguely remember where to Plus Gas the rear track rod ends, but what about the fronts?

Come to think of it an entry in the FAQ with pictures would come in handy  ;D.

Well... I can safely say that, yet again, the handling has been transformed! :y

It wasn't too far out TBH as it was last at WIM 2 years ago but still a dramatic transformation with all the sloppiness removed. Had great fun on the back roads getting to Dorchester on Friday :y :y
