I hope they still have the cab moulds!

I'm seriously surprised they don't have something akin to a roll cage built in to the cab.
-
Thats a very good point Chris as the cab would seem to be the most obviously vulnerable point. Even at higher speed impacts surely that would give a degree of protection. Dont know anything about this but you would have thought that they would have a crumple zone and cage as part of safety features?

I'm puzzled as to how it hit a tree ??
Not been windy to blow one down .. and I thought they checked all trackside growth for anything loose/dead ??
:-? :-?

I always worried when there was a train accident cause dad would always say "There will be 2 more...."....How he never suffered an accident in his 40 odd years of train driving i`ll never understand..But he did have his unfortunate share of suicides and attempted suicides... :( :( :( :(

The actual structure is stressed skin contruction to get the nose shape right they used GRP.
The actual nose is in front of the body shell, but the "chassis" runs through to about 1 foot from the front.
They are supposed to be quick and easy to change.

I know the chap who used to make the moulds for these, yes they are still about but I bet they are pricey.
