Latley the Senator has started to be an arse to start.
Usually it started ok first time, (cold) but now its not.
First crank, nothing does not catch.
Second crank, starts, but splutters straight away and always dies.
Third cank, starts and runs, though lumpy for about 2 seonds.
Fuel pressure seams good, press the bleed nipple and petrol comes out, also tried putting foot flat to the floor, then try starting it. Has no affect.
Any ideas?
Btw love driving it, so much torque. Up a steep hill, in 4th fully loaded at 1,500 rpm..... just loads of low down grunt :D
After 2 months in Europe of this, not going to like my 4 pot Omega am I ! :-[

You've confirmed the fuel OK.
How about the sparks?
Leads, plugs, etc??

Its had new plugs, propper ones for the S6 not the V6 ones.
The heat seams to affect it, it used to start fine but have the above problems when warm.
It never miss-fires... runs very smooth once started.
Don't know how to test the leads :-[

Tunnie....I have told you before why.......the injectors are leaking....floor it and crank it.....then start it as normal....

WOT on cranking tells injectors not to fire to allow engine to get rid of over rich mixture. Then start it normally.

Yep.....leaking injectors pour fuel into the inlet when the engien is left for a longer period of time......foot to floor on an injection car mens the injectors dont fire....so the fuel just gets drawn through and away...

let me get this straight? you are saying from cold it will not start first time or when its hot and is difficult to start?
If its when its cold then before you try starting it press the schrader valve in the fuel rail in and see if you have fuel pressure in it after standing over night,
cos it sounds to me to be a lack of fuel pressure when its hot, Have you changed the fuel filter yet??

I have been flooring it, then foot off and then crank. Did nothing.
Will try tomorrow: foot to floor, crank while foot is still down.
Its been fine at starting generally until this warmer weather, as TheBoy can comment, the Senator started FIRST time after been left still for 5 weeks. (did not touch the gas pedal!!)

Stuart - Omega projects were thin on the ground when I was looking. I had to get one around xmas so i could tinker on it at weekends to get it ready.
As it goes, only just had enough time to get it ready. Senny was £300 with 2 new rear tyres, new exhaust and 12 months MOT, so could not complain at that!
Its almost ready, will post pics of it before i go :y

hey tunnie, just out of curiousity, were you able to resolve your problem cuz it seems im facing the same problem here. hot or cold, starts lumpy with some black smoke for a couple of seconds. after car is clear.
The garage guy replaced my injectors, problem disappeared for 2 days and now its back.

Did he replace with new injectors or clean them?
IME the best solution to injector problems is to send them away to be properly cleaned in an ultrasonic bath. It could also be that you've got some other contamination in the system that's caused the problem to re-occur. I would change the fuel filter and give it a flush through with some fuel system cleaner.

Well actually...... ;) - I'd love to get stuck into another project and make a little money for my trip. Not sure whats going on in June yet (uni wise)
There is a chance I will have the whole of June off! :) - If I do, might take you up on that offer :)

Its still there, not as bad now. As advice from DTM (which i forgot :-[) and TheBoy.....
I crank the engine for 2/3 seconds with my foot flat to the floor.
Stop
Then start normally, it just..... just! starts. It splutters but then smooths out. Can't see any smoke from the exhaust, need to get a friend to watch!

Well actually...... ;) - I'd love to get stuck into another project and make a little money for my trip. Not sure whats going on in June yet (uni wise)
