it notifies you with people's birthdays,

you can see the friends what time they are sad, angry , happy or their state if they say..

and see some photos they share.. and gives chat  which is practical sometimes..

but discussion groups are real pain.. :-/

Facebook is brilliant.

1) My son can ignore me (won't accept my friend request).
2) I can communicate with my cousin in Sweden, which is far better than actually talking to him.
3) I can ignore friend requests from people I never really liked anyway.
4) I can confirm that a number of people I always suspected were complete a***holes are actually complete a***holes.
5) When you meet a person face-to-face it's quite difficult to plumb the depths of their ignorance; five minutes on Facebook reveals all.

Love it.   :) :) :)

I must spend - oooh! - minutes on there every day.  :) :) :)

I suppose that communicating by way of Facebook is better than not being in touch with people at all, however I've never, in my adult life, had the apparent luxury of having 'friends'

I've had colleagues and acquaintances yes, but friends, no - and any people I do need to communicate with, unconnected to the job, I do so by letter or occasional e-mail - voice communication isn't really appropriate in most cases.

Aside from that, this forum is the extent of my regular foray into the world of public communications, Facebook and the like are off-limits so perhaps I'm not really in a position to comment with any degree of competence.
