Title: Vista Home Premium 32bit

Bought a Dell Inspiron 1720Lap top a while back,
2gb ram
T2390 Duo @1.88
8600 M GT video

But the bloody net is soooooo slow

Plus can abyone tell me how to bring the equivelent of file manger up, I am so used to working with a drive list on the left and folders on the right.

firefox 8mb file down loading at 3kb/s  45 mins........ :-/

either the site is too slow or you have some problems with the driver or the hardware itself.. :-/

File Manager doesn't work in Vista or Windows 7 unfortunately.

To be completely correct, Win XP and 2000 didn't have it as such, but used the NT4 files to run it.

Speed - well you did buy a budget processor :P

Explorer - just type explorer in the search...

Explorer - Windows Key + E or right click start button, explorer.

Net, its all down to your provider, and browser, and how many people are using your LLU. I have an 8mb line into my bedroom, on torrents i can average 1.5mb/s

I got the same laptop as you mate, i dont find my internet that slow, it can be at times tho but i think thats to do with how manys online.

I used to use firefox but upgraded to google chrome which ive found to be lots faster.

Its not a bad laptop for the price, only problem is that it gets so damn hot!!! ouch  :-/

Nice lappy, sorted the net, just installed FF, lot faster now.

Just missing file manager. didnt realise how much I used it and is still not that different from very early windows.

Chrome is definitely not an upgrade  ;D

Like everything by Google, it is full of security risks.

FireFox with a few select Add-Ons is very hard to be beaten on a Windows based machine.

Not if its set up correctly!

I like Chrome, but it's flaws really turn me off.  How does one set it up so it is as secure as FireFox?  If it is achievable, then I'll be happy to try it for a fourth time.
