I know many are now feeling that TG is running out of new idea's but apart from the Toureg race it was an exceptionally good show. Cruise and Diaz were very entertaining and surprisingly quick drivers. In the Veyron I doubt that Captain Slow has ever driven so fast or likely to again (lucky barsteward ::)). The final part of the show about Senna was superb with some great archive footage. Well done TG. :y

Aeye, fantastic from start to finish. Dont forget the dakar Tuareg v snow mobil nutters on the lake. Tear in my eye after the Senna piece. And i never liked the bloke either. :'(

I can't say I liked senna but he was a brilliant racing driver

He did what was necessary on the track and, by accounts was a gent off the track. That's about a likeable as a successful racing driver can get, IMHO. ;)
It did bring home what a circus F1 has become. ;D Oh, to be back in the 80's.

Ah yes, THE era of Mansell, Piquet, Prost and Senna - proper racers and proper racing! :y
-
Aye, Senna may have raced hard (and we moan about Schumacher antics), but it was when men were men, and the F1 spectacle was around racing, not money.

The beeb has some of the truely classic races on its website, including the Senna v Prost ones...

And Lewis in the Mp44. 1200 hp turbo powered and no protection with a gear stick. Lifetime ambition to drive that car I think Lewis said...? Wow. :y
-
one of the best episodes ever tom cruise on two wheels :)
ayrton senna tear to my eye :'(
also james may in that veyron too how fast was that :o
-
I wouldn't mind just sitting in that veyron but that ba***rd gets paid to max it out :-X

Obviously going against the grain here, but I thought it was pretty poor.
The Toureg film was uninformative, didn't have much point IMO... not a road car, bared no resemblance to a road car... didn't even have any humour.
'The News' was particuarly poor. One cock gag which was off the back of the Toureg film. Poor.
Veyron film... did we have to endure Captain Slow driving fast again? Was quite astonishing the first time around (nobody thought May had the balls), but much less than 'awesome' the second time.
Cruise and Diaz in the reasonable priced car. Yeah, there were a few laughs, but Cruise looked like he was less comfortable than Clarkson handing over hard earned' for a Vectra, and Diaz..... well, it's Diaz, so nothing bad to say here.
Finally, the Senna film. Most definitely has his place in history, written in stone. I just wonder if the Beeb has anything to do with the new film coming out about him? Maybe not, but who knows. I just think for a very light humoured, entertaining evening piss take of a show, it wasn't right. Had Clarkson done a separate 30minute special, then fair play, but not to finish TopGear.
Just my two cents.

Thought it was one of the best ever. As for Cameron Diaz... :-* :-* :-* :y

James May did ok in the veyron, but then thier own test driver wanted ago and did a 2 way average of 267mph

missed it on telly so just caught up on i-player. Def one of the better shows. Loved the VW on ice , Capt slow in the Bugatti , Cruise/Cameron were entertaining (SWMBO dislikes mr cruise ever since he did the dirty on nicole kidman, I always find him watchable despite his barmy scientology stuff) and the senna bit reminded me of how I USED to like watching F1. As a kid I loved watching the likes of Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart and continued watching into the 70s ,80s and early 90s but the past 15 years or so its changed so much Ive sort of lost interest. Is it me or is it just so much more "political" now and less about individual drivers ability to win? Maybe Im just getting old and see things through rose tinted glasses :-/.Mind you, I used to think the same about football. You know, the old "were they really that good/how would they fit in today?". Then I watch old clips of players (youll guess Im a baggies fan here ;D) like Cyrille Regis/ Laurie Cunningham/ willie Johnstone for the albion or frank worthington and , of course ,the likes of George Best and Im reminded that not only were they skilled and quick, but they were also entertaining. Or maybe it is just me getting old..... :(

I've only just watched it off recording and it was a step back towards the halcyon days. They didn't manage to back-track on the schoolboy/girl language issue but one can't expect everything. ;D
I enjoyed the Senna tribute thing but they didn't come out of it properly and left it hanging, almost as if Jeremy wasn't ready for it.

Their test driver is used to ragging the Veyron about so no real surprise that he got more out of it than May. Still, got to hand it to (ex?) "Captain Slow" for having to balls to get in and drive it virtually flat out - I've been round Millbrook at 175mph and although it's awesome it's really scary, so over 250mph must be mind blowing! :o

It actually make JC the slowest presenter of the 3.
James May 250 mph +
Hamster crashed at over 300 mph.
Stiggy has driven the F1 car round at ? mph
JC has possibly nugged ? mph on the straight 9cant remeber his fastest speed at the mo)

Plus with all the help from Jackie stewart and Hanu Mikkals on driver/speed training that James May has had, it would be an interesting day out to see 3 different trypes of race between the 3 of them to see how well they comepare.
Off road it would be either Hammond or Clarkson, in theory Hamster should win as he seems to favour off road/rally type driving. Bur JC has done some interesting off road with the army etc
On the Topgear track, then clarkson should nail it. How ever, if you made it an endurance race on the TG track then my money is on James May
