I think ours is knackered - Dyson CR01
Complains about not able to rinse (I think) and then is unable to cancel programme.
1) Any ideas what to check?
2) What are good brands with large load to replace it with?

A budget would help...
We have A Miele, which I managed to buy on offer, and with a 10 year guarantee.
By far the best machine we have ever had.
Would not hesitate to recommend it, but at full price, with short warranty I would look elsewhere.

Assuming it is not in warranty............you obviously need a m/c with a bigger load capacity. Try Euronics centres or Comet, big sale on at the mo, might pick up a bargain!!
Stay away from Indesit, Servis, and Creda, appear to be short-lived under hard use.
suggest ringing Dyson directly at their Malmsbury factory, they are uber-helpfull, and sometimes can diagnose the exact fault and suggest parts to fix yourself if you are mech minded and handy with a screwdriver. Have personal experience with their machines, some have software issues, and are easy to rectify.

It appears to be cancelling now.
I am going to check coin catcher and pipes tonight.
Loath to spend money as drum bearings are NLA and when they go the machine is scrap.
I EXPECT appliances to last about 10 years or so.

Martin....
Have an excellant supplier here that can supply virtually ANY bearing from a pattern, don't scrap just for a bearing.............

I bought an LG machine 4 months ago and it is brilliant, 9kg load cpacity (you can get more) and it is direct drive so no noiser than a dishwasher - even on full spin!
Bit pricey at £650 but it has a 10 year warranty on the motor and as ours is on every day sometimes 3 times a day it has had no issues at all.
My wife loves it as it plays a little tune when it has finished the programme ;D

Small bore pipe comes off drum goes to small switch which tells machine OK to spin get's a lot of muck in it and pressure dose not go to switch (machine stops) normally with full load of water. :y

Yes beware, its only the motor and given these are direct drive induction motors, they ahev no brushes and other than bearings there is not much to go wrong.
The chopper drive circuits etc are a different matter.....and sadly not covered

bosch. last one lasted 12 years. only breakdown was a pump failure at ten years.
if only bosch made cars :D
they now do an 8 kg washer, and an 8 kg dryer. worth every penny and A rated too if efficiency is your thing. :y

You get a free 2 year warranty on all the parts and workmanship with the machine - but I upgraded to a covers all warranty for 5 years when I rang them to register the purchase all for an extra £59.

Bought a Whirlpool 6 mths ago from Tesco website not sure best model
but had voucher - got old one away taken away free & free delivery on the new one.
Other places wanted £20.00 to take old machine plus £20.00 to deliver new one.
Just under £200.00. They all seem to be cold fill only now as they use a lot less water?

Found lego and a big ball of gunge in the coin trap :o :o

I've been lucky with washing machines. 9 or 10 years ago i bought an ex rental Whirlpool for £70 as the shop was closing down. This ran without fault until about a year ago when it still worked fine but started leaking & got rusty as a result. About that time lodger Steve's Mum's next door nieghbour died. The family wanted everything gone & i came away with a 3 month old Indesit for £45!!!
Hoping for another 10 years out of this one! 8-)
