what does everyone get? my 2.6 2002 is doing a around the 25.5 mark with being driven hard is this good or bad? if it bad how can i improve it? lightening the right foot isnt really an option haha!
thanks tim

I think mine's averaging about 23-24 mpg. I've been keeping an rough eye on fuel lately and find I'm getting about 225-250 miles to a tank around town and about 100 more motorway driving. (That's cruising @ 95 or so. I dare say it'd be even more per tank at 60! ;) )
-
I get about 31 on a run & 21 around town if I take it easy, much less when having fun....
-
About 26-27 urban driving and up to about 31-32 on a long motorway run if not flooring it. Around 23 when having fun. ;)
-
22-23 combined (MID figures)

25.5 whilst being driven hard is bloo*y great IMHO :y I only get that from my 2.0 driving like an old tart ;)
-
3.0 V6 - 14mpg
Reason - foot is constantly nailed to the floor to make it move - as the gearbox is in limp mode ;D ;D

Absolutely agree, 2.0's are disgusting on fuel and should be avioded like the plague when there is a perfectly good V6 ;)
-
Hmmm, 27.5mpg average in chipped manaul MV6 and 26.2mpg average in auto elite.
Both 3.0, MV6 is driven more "enthusiastically" though... ;)

2.2's are better than the 2.0's cause they have slightly more torque...
My 2.2 averages 31/32 over the whole tank, 35+ on a motorway run (80ish) & 30/31 ish (90+ private runway)
Around down 27/8 ish...
As much as I like the Senator it only averages 26 mpg, so the 2.2 will be staying after the Summer.

Yeah, right. I suspect a 2.6 may appear ;)

26.7 open road running (A-road, not motorway), with very little town driving.
But my throttle only has 2 positions though ........ on and off. :-[ :'(

What other positions are there?

I'd love a 2.6 manual next, but I need a job!

Hmmmm 19.2 showing currently on mine - however its a constant 3 miles town drive 3 or 4 times a day and never above 40mph.....so i guess thats ok.
Can get 29mpg on a good run.
-
33mpg general 39mpg motorway the only good thing about diesel ;) ::)
-
I get about 25.5 in town with a little stretch of "A" road, this can drop to 24 if i'm in heave traffic. If the roads are clear I can get 27. Motorway I can clear 33-35mpg, depending upon how I drive!!
These days I tend to take it easy as I dunna want any points and i want to keep my insurance down, although the noise the V6 makes when booted sounds soooo sweeet it makes it ery hard to take it easy... ;D
I would have liked to compare the MPG from my 2.0 to my MV6, although my 2.0 was on LPG so the big difference in price was from moving back to petrol. I get the feeling that the V6 does drink slightly more juice though.
Is it worth installing cruise to improve mpg at all? I would have thought the smoother to journey, the better the mpg...?

Mine does the same small chore each day but gives me 26 mpg - but it only goes up to 31 at 70 mph on cruise.
-
Mine does about 32 on a motorway run at sensible speeds. Currently averaging about 27 mpg overall. Mostly A roads and a bit of urban driving.
If I go loopy I don't look at the numbers. I suspect they'd be too depressing!

my old 2.5 cdx had cruise, it was about 2mg worse when on cruise, cos cruise never coasts its always on a little, where as on a long down hill u can lift off leaving it in gear and use no fuel what so ever. its fun watching the intant mpg go to 999.99 mpg would be nice if it stayed like, i didnt meantion before but on a run mine get around 30/31 mpg at motorway speed +10 or 15 mph

Mine averages about 24 to 25mpg (which was about the same as my '94 Carlton 2.0i 8v) which is a mix of open road and town driving (MID currently displays 25.1mpg).
The last 'run' averaged only 30mpg which I thought was a bit disappointing.
Mine is a 2.2i Auto by the way, recently serviced and has covered only 29k! :) :)
