OK, so we have thousands of supposed members (but only a few hundred "active") who have miggy's, some of us have more than one.
So, that means we can account for at least 7000 miggys that are still on the road and used, but does anybody want to hazard a guess on how many MV6, or Elite models are left in this country running, used, and relatively "OK"???
Every day we hear on the forum of another one scrapped and broken up for bits. How many MV6 and Elites were actually manufactured and sold in the UK???
Can't be that many ones left now in good nick.........In another perhaps ten years, it could be a rare sight to even see one on our roads, and will definately be a sought after classic, even ex-plods!!
Is this worth a poll to see how many MV6 and Elites we have in the forum, including estates too, in a different list??
Please discuss, cos I am really intrigued.

the DVLA stats have been on here recently iirc.
-
How do you do a poll, Jimbob??

Was thinking of:
Elite saloons
Elite Estates
MV6 saloons
MV6 Estates
EX-plod Saloons
EX-plod Estates

This set me wondering......
Please be honest, if you have a roadworthy one and a scrapper in your drive that will never see the open road again, vote ONE.
However, if you have a couple, as long as they are all ROADWORTHY or "will be on the road soon cos of a bit of TLC" it's OK to vote both.
Thankyou.
Mike. :y

I have an MV6 estate which i've decided to sell instead of break even though its probably worth more in bits :(
-
My point exactly!!
Reckon there is as many "in bits" or about to be broken cos its uneconomical to fix than roadworthy examples!!
-
gl;ad you can pick more than one ;)
-
I picked just one, as the only one which will see open roads again, is the one I drive.
The other (Cam Belt failure) had lots of underlying issues which would have cost far too much for it to be a 'good car', even if it was structurally sound and aesthetically good.
I'll add, that I haven't made money from it as such..... all bits I've charged for, have been sold to members of OOF and I charged buttons compared to their market value.
Anything to keep other Migs on the road! :y

apologies now for being a bit of a numpty, :-[ ticked the box for ex plod saloon, meant to tick ex plod estate. ::) not sure if i can undo this, so perhaps -1 ex plod saloon and +1 ex plod estate at the end? :-/

WOULD VOTE BUT ONLY GOT 2.0 CDX. I FEEL SO LEFT OUT. SORRY MY CARS NOT GOOD ENOUGH MIGHT HAVE TO LEAVE NOW ;D ;D ;D
-
I was going to vote, but I think my results may affect the outcome as I've had a few.
Of the Omega's I've had, I know the following are still going, taxed and MOT'd;
2002 '02' 2.6 Elite auto saloon
2003 '03' 3.2 V6 Elite estate
2001 'Y' 3.2 auto saloon ex police red
2002 '02' 3.2 auto black saloon ex police
2002 '52' 2.6 MV6 manual - Now a 3.0 DBW hybrid
2003 '03' 3.2 Elite saloon
2003 '03' 3.2 Elite estate
And my current Omega - 2003 '52' 2.6 Elite manual
I think I've missed a few, but I know all are still going.
And if you look through Roger Budden's stock you can account for some more of the later rarer one's aswell etc.
There are a few other '03' 3.2 Elite's I know of aswell, so there are a fair few about.
I think the pre 1999 Omega's ae the one's in most danger.

I think it's pretty pointless having a poll restricted to Elites, MV6 & Plod variations. I would imagine the majority on here have CDs or CDXs....
...and I certainly can't imagine ex-Plods being sought after as classics unless they've been given the Battenburg treatment.
-
Yes, but imagine if we were talking Cortina's for instance....wouldn't the 1600 gt or 1600E's be more collectable and rarer?
In ten years time, there will probably be a darn sight more CD, CDX, and more basic ones left, but by their very useable interiors, alloys, etc the higher spec breakers get used up quicker, and therefore would possibly be rarer and more desireable later on??
just a thought.
PLYM IAN, just for you.
2 Litre CDX...............X :y

THANK YOU I MIGHT JUST STAY NOW ;D ;D
AS FOR ELITES BECOMING RARE ITS TRUE SAW 2 TODAY DOWN THE VAUXHALL DEALERS WAITING TO BE COLLECTED GOING TO THE BREKAERS ODDLY THEY WERE BOTH GREEN :)
