hi everyone kinda new and this is my third post
im on my third omega now and its finally a beauty
i started with a s reg 2 litre dti wasnt lookign for an omega just needed a diesel for work, and fell in love, even thou it was a gold gls
the fuel pump decided it wanted no more at 100.00 miles so that was the end of that
then i founf an old m reg 2.5 cdx manual on ebay and managed to get it for £250! what a brilliant car!
the deal was sealed and i knew i had found a car i was happy with so comfy and quick!
i then happened upon a 2002 52 plate cd 2.6 manual at a auction and stcuk my hand up and got it for £1800 bargin and brilliant! but on the way home horror! goin up a hill on the m4 the oil light flickered and i though ow no ill have to look at that at the next junction, by the time i was just halfway through that thought bang bang bang! i managed to get towed off the motorway by my friend who gave me a lift to the auction. try towin an omega by bar with a peoguet 306. stopping was interesting to say the least!
anyway got it home on a tralier and then spoke to my local garage, they advised the best thing to to was try get an engine cos u never knwo how much damage has been caused.
a week later i was so happy! i got a 30.000 miles engine for £450 from a breakers in scotland via findapart, and the boys at the garage swapped it for £150!
also put a belt on it for me
so from disarter i now have a 2002 cd manual for
£1800 (car)
£450 (new engine)
£100 cam belt
£150 fitting engine
so £2500 for a omega with a engine thats done 30.000 is that good?
adn i really owe the guys at the garage, there no a bog operation, and ive known them for about five years, offer cash for a job and the price is amazing, the did the clutch just last week for £50 min i had to buy the part sepperatly for £260, but i get trade at the local autoparts store cos that guy that works there used to work for my uncle
what a fantastic car and im so glad i found this forum!!!!
oh and im 25 and the insurance is £280 fully comp i got 5 year ncb is that good?
thanks again guys!

Sounds like a good result all round Tim. :y A decent 2002 Omega with an engine on only 30k miles for £2500 and fully comp insurance at £280 sounds a real bargain. 8-)
BTW who are you insured with? You're paying less than me and I'm 53 with fully comp and full NCB. :o

I used to pay over £1,000 for full-comp, it went down over the years to around £700 (I'm with Tesco now), wife's car is around the same, I understand that this is due to street parking in London... but the 'meega was quite expensive when I first bought it over 5 years ago, I guess the current value does not justify full comp any more...

That's ridiculously expensive!! You should be able to get fully comp for half that. Try searching for quotes on motorinsurancesupermarket.com or moneysupermarket.com

i think im quite lucky then to get mine at under £300 when im only 25, this car seemed so unlucky when i got it and the engine blew, but its been nothing but good luck since touch wood.
ah and who ever put it in the auction knew it was mullered cos the engne that was taken out was full of molly slip or something like that the bastards!! the oil pump packed up and then it streched a rod which in turn tried to escape through the head, there is probay still bits of it on the m4

A cracking deal Tim, I'd want a few quid more for my 03 and would weep if it only fetched £1800 at auction. :'(
But with your good contacts, all's well that ends well. :y
