Title: Sense of humour failure
Post by: Nickbat on 03 August 2010, 21:47:28
I think it's finally happened. I just sat through five minutes of "Shooting Stars" and came to the conclusion that it is childish, moronic and about as funny as a famine.

Pah!  It is Childish, but that is the intention.  Reeves and Mortimer are the original 'modern' comics.  Everyone thereafter have been influenced by them.  It has been spoken about very clearly on several documentaries about Comedy.

But BM, if its childish then where is the ingenuity? Anyone can do childish humour, it just hints at a lack of abillity......

In the brief time I have spent watching them on TV, they appear to be trying to emulate Morecambe & Wise.. and failing badly.   :(

Vic Reeves is at his best when he's not conciously trying to be funny.  :-? I think he treads a fine fine between sanity & insanity ..... a bit like Mike Spilligan

He was on the Alan Carr show the other night with Ulreka and Mortimer. I thought Reeves was damn right rude >:(

I have never found Vic Reeves even vaguely funny.  Bob Mortimer has his moments, but they are few and far between.

Have never managed to sit through more than 3 minutes of Shooting Stars.

there must be another programme called "Only Fools and Horses" that I haven't seen that's intelligent, witty and hilarious as a show with the same title always seems to be voted top or near the top of polls on funniest sitcoms ever  :-?

Curb Your Enthusiasm - now that's funny  :y
Frasier, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory, Spaced, Father Ted, Dream On, The Tick, The Daily Show, Screenburn are all good  :y

but the funniest thing on telly, almost without fail is Fox's hilarious "News" Channel - I don't know how they get away with it!! no, really  ;D
