Title: Did you know?
Post by: Banjax on 08 August 2010, 01:08:23
That in the first quarter of this century, ie 2000-2025, 50% of all the new buildings on Earth will be in China?  :o
and 50000 of them will be skyscrapers.............thats 10 New Yorks built in China in 25 years!! :o

The biggest explosion of economic growth we as a civilisation has witnessed........I think I better learn Mandarin  ;D

Right now, every 2 days, we now create as much information as we did from the dawn of civilisation up to 2003  :o

the mind boggles  :y

It certainly seems to be, however I think the Chinese establishment will be facing some home grown difficulties in the not too distant future: expanding population wanting more of what they never had, dwindling natural resources, sections of that vast population becoming pissed off with being pushed out of their homes and communities in the name of ‘progress’ and, difficulty in accepting that some of us in the wider world may not wish to consider this economic behemoth to be the de-facto power in the coming century.

Quite a lot of it pap, so we should congratulate the droves of humanity we witness padding around our streets while staring into a screen and adding to this treasure trove of information by earnestly detailing their every thought and movement to the other disciples of Twitter, Facebook and blogosphere in general.

the mind boggles  :y

Zulu I'd say at the very least 99% of it is pap - thats the trouble, in the "olden days" you had to research stuff in "books", found in "libraries"....these books were generally checked and cross checked, edited, sourced and referenced - nowadays you can hop onto Wikipedia and change anything you like, twitter away to your hearts content or send emails of cats playing the piano  :o

what a waste of the 'net  :(

and i just added another few lines to it with this post  ;D

If at university you should not BJ - it is strictly frowned upon and can give a student zero marks for their work - so the serious researcher only uses reliable, academically sound sources 8-) 8-).

However, wiki can start your search for information off in an easy way! ::) ::) :D :D :D :D :D ;)
