-
Better weather (with clearer skies) is forecast for tonight/thursday; so the seeing should be good.....get out there in the garden (with a comfy chair/recliner) and be ready with the Ooohs & Aaahs. :y
-
cool cool, ima go up to a place called Wingreen (a hill to which on a clear do u can see the isle of white from and this is set about an hour in land)
shame i missed the northern lights the other night
-
Seen them a few times, in coastal areas.
Well worth watching. :y
-
Ooh goody. Seen them before. One of natures free shows.
One great advantage of living miles from civilisation .
Thanks for the heads up! :y :y :y
-
thanks for the link, 'nocs at the ready :y

Been standing outside for ages now and the only things I have seen with tails are aircraft over Bovingdon beacon, and a fox that jumped in the garden and frightened the shite out of me :o :o
Can you be anywhere to see them?????
-
They said on the radio that it wasn't a good idea to use binoculars or a telescope, as the area in which the show will occur is quite extensive, and by using a viewing aid you will restrict the area you can look at.
But, of course, if you can read my advice, you aren't outside looking for shooting stars, so I'm wasting my time really. :)
I've never seen a shooting star. :(

Blimey. If you are quick and get a flight (and some beer) you can watch them tonight on our terrace till you are sick (of them).
We can watch the International space station and saw the supply vehicle undock once.
Best object though by far was the UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) that the Spanish military have been testing recently. Solar powered and flew for four days hugging the contours.

Just an hour down the road from here at Betws-y-coed , The little fella and I were sat outside for ages at 10, 10-30 watching loads of satellites fly over, he was loving it.
So, sure Debs will have a cracking view of em, bet its very dark up there :y
-
last years was spectacular here, saw hundreds of them - clear night - this year looks like it might be clearing up, but jereboams right - dont bother with binoculars or a telescope as you'll miss most of them - naked eye's all you need :y
-
The last time I saw the meoterite showers ,I was driving down M20 on me way to the shuttle when I had some clown bury heself and his merc sl500 in the back end off my trailer ,fortunatly no one was hurt ,only a severly dented merc :o :o :obest bit was guy was'nt insured to drive it .That will teach him to drive fast on cruise control and fall asleep at wheel. I think police took a dim view off it at the time ::) ::) ::) ::) Well it was at 2-3 in the morning
-
Went and sat on the airfield this evening. Saw a couple of meteorites but they were a bit few and far between.
Saw a 737 night landing as well.

:'( Rain spoiled my viewing attempt last night......maybe next year. :-/
-
cloudy til about 1am or so, clear sky but only saw maybe 5 or 6 in half an hour
-
put my bed outside last night and saw a few before falling asleep as so tired.
would have been more if i hadn't spent a few hours waiting at the airport for Jereboam. Where were you? ;D ;D

Multitasking! That's the problem when you get to my age. You mentioned beer, so I went off to get some (can't keep it in the house - ex-student son living here at the moment). Got the beer, came home, drank the beer, forgot about the airport. Or possibly: got the beer, came home, forgot about the airport, drank the beer.
Sorry. Overcast with threat of thunderstorms here last night - didn't even make it to the garden let alone the airport.
GO and catch a falling star,
Get with child a mandrake root,
Tell me where all past years are,
Or who cleft the devil's foot,
Teach me to hear mermaids singing,
Or to keep off envy's stinging,
And find
What wind
Serves to advance an honest mind.
If thou be'st born to strange sights,
Things invisible to see,
Ride ten thousand days and nights,
Till age snow white hairs on thee,
Thou, when thou return'st, wilt tell me,
All strange wonders that befell thee,
And swear,
No where
Lives a woman true and fair.
If thou find'st one, let me know,
Such a pilgrimage were sweet;
Yet do not, I would not go,
Though at next door we might meet,
Though she were true, when you met her,
And last, till you write your letter,
Yet she
Will be
False, ere I come, to two, or three.

Fantastic. :y
Tell me where all past years are
Got me beat too. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I remembered that song, but I pride myself on having sufficient good taste not to mention it in mixed company.
There are youngsters present. :(
